My favorite AU slash fics of the year.

I love AU fics when done well. These are all very different. They are all dark!slash. Some I've reced before, some not. Please enjoy, and I'd be interested in hearing what you think!

*Some of these you may not consider precisely AU, but let's say they have 'world building' elements even if they don't precisely fit that category.

Yes, they are marvelous. It made me laugh that my fave AUs are all dark slash or slash. I wonder what that says about me! *g* I think you'd like Honor, if you haven't delved in. Its your kind of Spike and the fireworks between the characters reminds me of Bent Justice. :)

Agreed, there are always writers who can do AUs well -- in fact make you enjoy all sorts of things. Had to laugh at the NC 30 categorization though. Guess we'll need a new tag and Memories category!

That came of flames for things being a bit stronger than some readers were prepared for. I myself have upgraded a lot of the ratings on my own fics. In some cases, that made more people read them, though. LOL! ;)

Yes, they are all wonderful and I think you will enjoy whatever one you missed! I am going to try to do a dark het list, but that may take me a while to consider.

What I find amazing is that most of these are long, complicated and extremely dense and multi-layered fics as well as dark and very sensual. I applaud the writers for being able to stick to the stories and the themes for so long. As someone who can't quite crack the 5 page mark, I think that's truly wonderful!
