I'm a huge Fred fan but I believe she was often poorly written, a filler female for a mostly-male ensemble who wasn't fleshed out to her full potential. Although I loved Wes/Fred back in season 3 and was rooting for them, I hated the rush-to-romance between them in season 5; I didn't buy it or enjoy it. And while I loved the character of Illyria, I HATED Fred's death and will always wish they would've found a way to bring Fred back.

Mostly, I enjoy reading and rewriting the Fred between the lines that we didn't get on-screen. She was great, but she could've been fantastic!

I agree with this. I liked the glimmers of depth that she got sometimes, but too often her story was changed to suit someone else's.
