Favorite Episode: Tabula Rasa (6x08) Favorite Season: This tends to go back and forth a lot. I'll say three, with two at a close second. Two is darker but three is better executed. Feelings about the Angel spin-off? I never tried to watch all of it, although I'm told I should. I've seen the first three episodes and felt it was lacking something. Further Reading: Yes, I'm currently reading Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy: Fear and Trembling in Sunnydale
I saw more than that. Those were the only ones I saw in order, though. I saw maybe half of season four (or whichever season had Conor and that whole mess). I just never could get into it enough to make an effort to see the rest.
Favorite ep: knee jerk reaction is to go with "Afterlife" because I loved Spike's semi-monologue. Favorite season: Either 5 or 6. Angel: At the time it aired, I didnt watch... Last year I started watching from the beginning & I'm very much into it. It doesn't arose the same obsessiveness in me that Buffy does, but I really like it for the ensemble. ANd its definitely the best "spin-off" of any series ive ever seen except maybe the L&O spin offs. Further reading: Ive only browsed in the bookstore a couple things but never actually read anything.
Fav ep? Once More With Feeling Only Joss could put the most serious themes of the season in a musical episode.
Fav season? Seventh.
Feelings about Angel? A good show that stands well on its own, though the Fourth Season story arc was terrible. I liked all of the characters who moved from Buffy to Angel (Angel, Cordy, Wes) more on the spinoff than I did on Buffy. I went from being mildly annoyed by David Boreanaz to actively liking him quite a bit after watching Angel.
Further reading? I've read most of the meta and academic analysis of Buffy at some point - I'm a PhD student in media studies, and one of my interest areas - not my primary interest, but something I occasionally write about - is fan culture.
My favorite episode is Once More With Feeling. The performances and musical aspects of that episode give it a life beyond the small screen. I attended a midnight screening a la Rocky Horror in NYC at the IFC Cinema. It was wonderful and such fun!!
Favorite Season is 6. For all the reasons. I think the episodes are tightly written, the character growth is tremendous.
I really enjoy Angel. I own it on DVD as well as all the Jossverse. I do think it suffered from poorer writing than Buffy and a colder character at it's heart. The BEST Angel moments are when David Boreanaz is playing comedy. For MY dollar, anyway.
Oh NO! I saw the original airing. The only time they ran it in its entirety on TV, 10 minutes over time. I own all the DVDs and have watched them in marathon form over weeks about 5 times so far....not as much as many, I am sure. LOL!

I think season 6 ranks as my favourite thing any show has decided to do with its main characters. Minus the magic crack metaphor. *wince*

Agreed. That's why I liked Angel better on AtS more than when he was on BtVS -- as the main character he got room to be more than just tall/dark/broody. It's clear Boreanaz likes playing silly, and honestly, he's much better at it.
It's difficult for me to pick one favorite episode, but I'd probably say Once More With Feeling. Close second is Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.
Season 2 is absolutely my favorite. No question.
I love "Angel" too, brilliant show, but not as much as "Buffy."
I've done a good bit of research on BtVS, reading a number of articles from various places (Slayage, Fighting The Forces, Why Buffy Matters, Television and Morality, etc), though I'm not sure I've read any of the books cover to cover yet. I'm in the process of writing my own article on OMWF (and Dr. H, actually... I love musicals). I had posted the survey about OMWF a little while back, which I believe you responded to, thanks. I'd love to know more about what you're writing.
