Buffy wakes with a gasp, sitting straight up in bed. Not sure what it is that woke her, whether it be a noise outside or the nightmares that seem to be coming more frequently

"What? In there? Surrounded by teenage girls and their hormones and their..." Spike takes another long drag off of his cigarette. "I'd be somewhere else if I had anywhere else to go."
The vampire looks at the blonde who joins him on the porch. "I assume that you're not up because you want to be."
"No, no. I'm all good. Peachy. Peach-a-riffic. My house is full of girls who might just end up dead, we're all being stalked by some weird Evil ... thing, and I'm not sure how I'll end up paying the utilities on this place next month. Fantastic."
Spike looks around, "With how things are going, there might be be anyone around here to pay utilities to, Pet. The place is quick becoming a ghost town." Spike closes the distance between them, about halfway, close enough to reach out and put his hand on her upper back for a brief moment.
"I risked my own well enough before you came along. Don't let that stop you." Spike moves that hand in a comforting fashion along the back of her shoulder.
"They can all leave. Remember that. They need to be here as much as you need them to be here."
"I am many things - witty, handsome, charming, ensouled, fantastic in a fight..." Spike looks at her, the smile on his face gauged to potentially remind her of other things he's good at.
Spike pockets his flask and moves behind Buffy a little more, putting his hands on her shoulders. "What else do you want to talk about. I'm open to conversation." He doesn't start to rub her shoulders but at the moment, he's more looking to be a solid presence for her.
Her shoulders are tense under his hands for just a moment, and then she relaxes. She doesn't move away from him, and he can feel her take a deep breath, shifting a little in place.
"How about this -- let's figure out what we're going to do when this whole mess is done with. We'll pretend that everything has gone peachy, we're all alive, and it's a nice sunny California day. That, um, you can be out in."
"A little sun won't stop me. It'll just make things a bit awkward, that's all. First, I'd spend the day catching up on all of my shows. Then I'd go get some food, maybe some spicey wings and a few beers." He pauses, just being a presence, being someone who will touch her, someone who will be there for her to lean on - if she chooses.
"And then..." Spike pauses, "Well." The peroxide blonde vampire pauses, lowering his voice a bit, "If this were an ideal day, I'd spend some time reading to someone." It sounds like a guilty confession, as if he's saying something he doesn't often say.
As if he's handing her something of himself - perhaps against his better judgement.

"But I have never been a leader."

"Guess that just leaves me, then. Stuck with the nightmares and guilt." Buffy shakes her head and laughs a little.
"Can we actually go back to talking about movies, or anything else? Because this whole moping thing is kind of getting me down."
