This is exquisite! I love the alternating versions of the past - the way you slide between the world as it was and the world created in which Dawn could exist. It's both commonplace and poignant and deftly written for all that.

Oh, this is fantastic and I love it! I second Velvetwhip on how well you slid back and forth between the two versions of the past. It's very well done and I love it.

Gorgeous! This story rewards multiple re-reads - and really requires rereading to take it all in.

Quoting velvetwhip in full because she says everything I want to say better than I can.

This is a beauty, yo. Love how the flow/conflict between the AU and "reality" is used to offset the (very slightly differing) mundanity of events.

Oh, I really, really enjoy the alternating altered viewpoints. That's a neat idea. It's also neat how Mr. Gordo's role changes between the two.

I noticed that Buffy is much less self-absorbed and self-pitying in the Dawn versions of some moments, because she has to be a role model and/or recognizes that her little sister needs her to be strong. Dawn makes her a better person, and also manages to make the painful moments much less heavy. Who says younger siblings are nothing but pains in the tushie? :)

Lovely.
