[round 5: Giles + early years] sign ups

After a hiatus, buffy_genfic is back! Hooray!
This round is an author's choice, so there will be no poll. Thanks to baphrosia, who has participated in every round so far wow so awesome, for this month's prompt, which is:
Character: Rupert Giles
Theme: Early Years
Round 5 schedule:
Monday March 14: signups open
Saturday March 18: assignments go out
Saturday April 9: assignments due
Remember our standard rules:
+ No slashing, no canon-pairings, no popular fandom-pairings.
+ No romance, no UST, no lust, no sex as emphasis
+ You may offer two story prompts, if you wish. If you are assigned two prompts, you are only required to write one of the prompts.
+ There is no upper limit, but you have to write at least 500 words.
+ If for some reason you cannot write your story, or it's going to be late, let punch_kicker15 know as soon as you can. (email: punch_kicker15 @ ymail(.)com)

Shadows and Light
At this point, there is a pretty substantial body of work to choose from so - you can choose to apply the artist challenge to an older piece (with the author's permission), work with an author for this round, or create an original piece. Challenge is the same as Round 3 since there were no artists the last two months. EDITED TO ADD: The Shadows and Light challenge is required for original works only. Banners for stories do not need to incorporate the Shadows and Light challenge.
