Hi everyone! I want to get my hair layered and highlighted, but I've never gotten the latter done before. I was just wondering what's a good place to go that's affordable. The last time I got my hair cut I went to Hair Xsalonce on Main in Williamsville. I liked them, but their prices are about 40 for a cut and then 65 for highlighting. Is this ( Read more... )

SuperCuts in Cheektowaga; the one near the mall in the "Consumer Square" by The Wine Sellar. (ugh, I hate that name.)

You need to see Allison. She's the manger there. She's incredibly intuitive and talented with hair, and guaranteed to give you a flattering color and fabulous cut. And it's going to be pretty inexpensive--at least, less than what you noted.

Chez Ann in the City does all colors for $45. I just had my hair hilighted and colored (at the same time) and that cost $90. I think the hilight price might also depend on how long your hair is.

Erin is my stylist and you'll hear nothing but great things about her around here. She's amazing. I think the other stylists there are great too, but Erin's my girl! If you do go to her tell her Karen Swanson sent you!

Seconding this recommendation. My hair still looks pretty darn awesome even though she did my high lights about 2 and a half months ago. :)

And yes, that price is about average for that type of stuff.

Oh and Erin is a Master Colourist, always taking new classes and learning new techniques. She uses foil for hilights (anywhere that uses pull-through caps are out of date and don't know what they're doing). ::cue Erin getting all blushy:: She's actually in this community if you wanna talk to her (2elegant2lie.

price depends on how long your hair is and how much you want to have highlighted. The staff at Hair XSalonce is very good and also the staff at R Salon on Transit (just south of the intersection of Main and Transit), but both places are closed on Sun and Mon and both prefer appts. The cheapest you could go would be to find a friend you trust who know what they're doing to come over to your house and make you lovely
