Fast Fiction Challenge: Sitting In The Seat

Aug 21, 2006 21:29

Personal note: This was written for Phil, who challenged me under the standard rules of the challenge. Don't care how soppy it sounds, this one's rather special to me. And I trust everyone reading it enjoys it as much as he hopefully will.

Enjoy, son.

Heh... 'twas a fun story to write, especially - but not only - because of the challenger.

:-D

So sweet but if your car disappears you only have your self to blame ;-)

Well, Ii'd expect my stalker to note the exact time and date...

Of course! What kind of stalker would I be if I couldn't keep track everything that happened at your house?

I'm almost offended by your comment!!

Well, the only tip I can give you, to make the story as interesting as possible, is make sure the word has NOTHING to do with the title.

Obscure words are very welcome, and there's this site if you want to have some fun with the word.

yea I gathered that... the words I am coming up with right now are too close. So I shall sit and wait for that...

Three questions:

1) What's the URL again for the current challenge? And can you link it on your list of links next to the 2005 listing?

2) Have you thought about tagging any of these with "fastfiction" so people can browse the past 100 fastfictions?

3) Would you be interested in receiving more challenges from children? I'd *love* to have my sixteen "gifted" students from my study hall submit words and titles for challenges, and share the resulting stories with them! Unfortunately, as a teacher I also need to make sure that they're "school appropriate." As in, okay for 11-12-13-year-old, 7th grade kids. Your challenges usually fall into the "School appropriate" category, but I know that writing a challenge is tough enough without having to adjust for language or sex or violence censorship. So-- whaddaya think?

1. Here: http://budgie-uk.livejournal.com/577538.html, and I've thought about linking it but it'd mean changing the link every time I update teh challenge.

2. Not really no. I'm a complete amateur on this stuff: don't filter stuff, other than occasionally a friends-locked post, and don't tag.

3. Sure, send the challenges along. If you want something that you can use to hand out, feel free to use the pdf and just use the appropriate stories...

Thanks! I've added the new update to my memories file. :)

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. I'm also thinking of asking them to write similar stories or story snippets (maybe not limited to 200 words, but maybe just 1-2 pages) and comparing what you write with what they come up with. :)

regie did a similar thing last year.

Take a look at the comments to this story, and then what I turned around for him a shade under an hour after he set me one he'd set his class that morning...
