Dude, your dad loves you so much and he is soo proud of you. I know it's hard, everything you and your dad have been through, but i think you have done a fabulous job of balancing everything. We are, tho, our own worst critic. I'm sure he appreciates you caring...even if you waited until college years...So, don't let it go. i feel the same way about my dad! haha. I guess you would know firsthand about my emotional weakness for my dad after I broke down over the phone.

Sorry about the little breakdown. You can always call me to vent once in awhile. You know how often I do the same to you! ;)

I also watched some of 'Alien Planet'. We haven't 'discovered' life, they just speculated what we've been speculating for decades now. I hate these types of shows because they just ramble on and on. If we'd actually get off our butts and do something about it, maybe we would discover new life.

And they definately haven't sent those types of probes out yet. We won't have something like that for a LONG time. Heck, we haven't even had a shuttle airborne in 2 years!

i haven't watched the special but it seems to be like the ones they had on dinosaurs and prehistoric beasts - those were about going back in time - which we all know we can't do. So I know this is all fake, does make you think though.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you had a rough night but you're right - it's crap like this that brings you closer to your parents and makes you appreciate them. I think you've been a great son - and it's always hard to see your parents going through shit since they're supposed to be the strong mature ones. Your dad knows you love him, and that's enough.

And to ditto other's comments - I'm here for you Mike, so feel free to call if you need anything (now that you've got the phone figured out).
