If you limit yourself to ground transportation, there is actually no way to get out of the Western Washington area, because all three major passes are also closed: I90, US2, and US12.
I suppose you might be able to take minor roads or go up through Canada or something, but that doesn't seem ideal.....
Well, coming from a desert, you're probably right that I don't have fully in scope. It still sounds pretty awful to me, though.
You're right, driving roads that meander and driving to Canada in order to get around is less than ideal. No offense to Canada intended, but it'd be nice to drive in the country you're trying to move about in, ya know?
