I think this bunny sounds confusing but it's stuck in my head and wanted to get out ( ... )

Leonard shook his head. "He's not there, I checked. Not that I think he'd even consider it. And before you say anything, I talked to the quartermaster. Jim didn't talk to him about getting assigned a bunk, and what with all the Vulcan refugees and a large part of living quarters damaged from the firefight, the crew is sharing beds on rotation already, anyway. Jim would be lucky to just find an empty bed for him to bunk in without officially being assigned one ( ... )

Leonard's rant was followed by a moment of silence, and he was aware that after how loud his voice had gotten the more he had vented his frustration and ire, now everyone on the Bridge was listening in on their conversation. Well, tough luck there. Leonard didn't care about what everyone else thought ( ... )

"After the Captain left the Bridge, he made his way down here. I could not determine from the video feed whether there was a specific purpose to his coming down here, but according to the video logs he has not left ( ... )

There was no response, or even an acknowledgement that Jim had heard him, but Leonard hadn't been expecting anything of the kind. He did another swipe with the tricorder, just to make sure, then he sat back on his haunches and thought for a second.

"How is the Captain?"

He startled at the sound of the calm voice right behind him. Of course he had known that Spock was still there, but still…for a few minutes at least, he had completely forgotten that the Vulcan was still lingering in the room with him.

"To cracked ribs, swelling to his trachea from getting chocked," he couldn't keep the venom out of his voice as he said that, "and a whole lot of cuts, sprains and bruises ( ... )

For a second, Spock seemed to think about that choice Leonard had laid out in front of him, but then he gave a barely perceptible nod. He crouched down beside Jim's prone form.

"What do you need me to do?"

"Help me get him up from the floor first. Slowly, and mind his ribs. We'll take it from there once we got him upright. Unless you can somehow make sure that we're not going to meet anyone in the corridors, that's about all we can do for now."

Spock nodded and at Leonard's instruction reached for Jim's arm. As soon as the Vulcan touched him, Jim turned his head and mumbled something unintelligible, but he didn't wake up.

Well, Leonard thought, looked like they'd have to drag Jim out of here. That was going to be fun.

Looking forward to more! I especially love that Bones is still so annoyed at everything Spock does.

Thanks. And I'm still working on this, it has just been put a little on the backburner for the Big Bang. But I haven't forgotten about it. :D

I'm sorry that it took ages, but I got stuck on this one and didn't get going again. But I haven't abandoned it, and while it's not quite done yet, I promise to do my damned best to have it done this week.Spock did indeed clear the corridors back to the turbolift and those to the crew quarters with a simple command into his communicator. Being First Officer apparently had its perks, because nobody questioned that seemingly random order, and they didn't encounter anybody as they made their way out of Engineering, dragging Jim between them. It was slow going, because Leonard was worried about Jim's ribs, and the pain that moving along like this had to cause him even though he was not really conscious. It worried Leonard a little, because if Jim was exhausted enough that not even being dragged along like this really woke him up then it was bad. But there was nothing he could do about that until he had finally settled Jim somewhere. He'd just have to examine him extremely thoroughly to make up for that ( ... )

Jim's torso looked just as Leonard had expected it to after his initial scan down in Engineering. It was an assortment of small scabs, skin rubbed red and raw in places as if the it had been chafed, and bruises. Plenty of bruises. Jim was always pale, but against the discoloration his paleness stood out in even starker contrast. The bruising was especially bad around his throat - swelling to the trachea, too, not to forget about that - and against his lower ribs. The bruises formed nearly a straight line across his torso, and with a sinking feeling Leonard realized that whatever impact had caused this, it had been hard. Very hard.

He could practically hear Jim's voice in his head. I'm okay, Bones. Just a few bruises, nothing to worry about. Yeah, because there weren't different degrees of bruises, some of them more dangerous than others, and until the day Jim got a medical degree of his own it damn well stayed Leonard's job to decide whether or not Jim's bruises required medical attention ( ... )

"Ten minutes, darlin'." The endearment slipped out without thought, but Jim still had his face turned away from him and Leonard couldn't discern if Jim had even heard it. "I'd be best for your throat if you just kept a cooling pack on it and didn't talk for a day or two, but knowing you I know that's asking the impossible. So I'll give you something against the swelling and hope that you'll for once in your life listen to me and at least take it easy on your voice for the next couple of days."

Loading the medication into the hypospray, Leonard only hoped that at least this time Jim wasn't going to whimper again at the injection. The sound was so unlike Jim, so wrong coming from him that Leonard never wanted to hear it again ( ... )
