I'd like to see Jim hurt or really sick and suffering, but for whatever reason (up to you, anon) Bones isn't available right away to take care of him. The other doctor is competent, but the care he gives is mostly technical. Jim's used to being balled out, scolded, called an idiot, etc. by Bones, but Bones' touch is caring.
I want to see Jim being absolutely relieved, despite how miserable he's feeling physically, when Bones finally shows up.

"I'm Doctor Sheppard, Captain. Can you remember what happened? Do you know where you are?"
There had been only cobwebs before, but now that the initial shock upon waking up in strange surroundings was wearing off, his memories became somewhat clearer.
"Starbase 9. We're…we're on Starbase 9."
Talking hurt his throat and his mouth felt incredibly dry, but it was good to feel the pieces start to slide into place. Enterprise had docked at Starbase 9 three days ago. A Starfleet Intelligence Conference on recent developments in certain areas bordering the Neutral Zone was taking place here, and Jim had been asked to attend. He did remember the day of talks and reports, but then…The last thing he really remembered was greeting Captain Henderson in the conference room on the second day of the conference and then…nothing

Of course they were, Jim didn't doubt that. It would have just been…nice to find Bones here upon waking up. It was what he knew, and it always gave him the feeling that no matter how much he hurt upon waking up, Bones was going to fix him up and everything was going to be all right

Bones' tone was acrid, but his hand was a warm weight against Jim's shoulder as he squeezed it gently, and Jim relaxed just a little bit more. This was something he knew, something he could deal with. And now that Bones was here, things would be back to normal, soon. He wouldn't be grumbling and griping if anything was seriously wrong

"All right," Bones said as he drew the blanket back up. "If you give yourself enough rest for once, you should be fine within a day or two. Still, no solid foods for twenty-four hours, just to make sure. And the best thing you can do right now is rest, and get some sleep. I'll stick around while you sleep, and maybe we can move you back aboard Enterprise by tonight."
It sounded great, but if Bones stayed here he'd miss the rest of his seminar, just to sit around here and get bored while Jim slept.
"But your seminar."
Bones shrugged, and his hand went back to cover Jim's knee as he picked up the hypospray again.
"I don't think I'll be missing much. I doubt this morning's speaker had ever seen a Denobulan before, let alone seen with his own eyes what their respiratory system looks like. I can find more interesting reading material in the most boring medical files from Enterprise. It's actually a blessing that I have a way to get out of that seminar

This was INCREDIBLE. Wondrous, even. The interaction between them is perfect, and I love how Bones explains what's going on so Jim understands. I can just picture all of this happening. Bravo!
