Modern Day/Contemporary AU of AOS. Trauma Surgeon Dr. McCoy has joint custody of Joanna, alternating weeks. He’s waiting for the drop off at a neutral location when the new Medivac pilot, Jim Kirk notices him and strikes up a conversation. They are totally flirting by the time Jocelyn arrives with Jo. When he gets Jo home she insists he tell her about his “new boyfriend” he denies that he’s dating. Jo just won’t believe him. Head Nurse Chapel overhears one such discussion and totally agrees with Jo. Eventually it gets back to Jim, only by the time the rumor gets that far it’s blown even more out of proportion. Like maybe people are saying McCoy’s wife left because he was getting it on with Jim and Jim moved to where ever they are to be with him. Happy ending? Pretty please?

Um, I only noticed this doesn’t quite fit your prompt when I started to post it, sorry. Also the only medical tv show I’ve seen more than a thirty second snippet of is Scrubs and this seems to have chronically affected my ability to write serious medical drama. On the plus side, there are definitely rumors

“Len! You in here,” yells Chapel.
“No!” he yells back, not moving from his slump.
Chapel ignores him, and drags him forcibly from his hidey-hole.
“This is undignified,” he protests feebly.
“If you would just man up, I wouldn’t have to do it. Your pilot’s coming off shift right now and you are going to go and welcome him properly, no more treating him like a dirty little secret. I am not letting you screw this up Len.”
“There is no secret. Dirty or otherwise.”
“Good. Then you’ll have no trouble introducing him to us all, instead of letting him slink in on his own like you’re ashamed of him.”
God or whoever, Leonard prays, I would never ask for a genuine emergency, but would a false alarm be too much to ask for right now.Chapel keeps towing him along

There’s quite a crowd gathered at the Medivac centre. Apparently, and Leonard has no idea how he knows this except through osmosis, Jim is up in the Medivac chopper, proving he can actually fly

Actually this is pretty much exactly my prompt, with just the Jo bit missing and that's ok. Clearly the hospital didn't need the help. I love Jim in this, the fact that he takes one quick glance, adds up the clues and just goes with it. Lovely. Thank you.
