Reaper!Jones epic songfic

So I was listening to the new Kamelot CD, Poetry for the Poisoned and learning the lyrics because I’m slightly obsessive like that. The last song didn’t really compute the first few times and then -WHABAM- the lyrics hit me. It’s like the song was made for Reaper!Bones’ past and possibly his future with Jim…o.O

okay I'm bouncing on 3 (count 'em!) prompts now, because I've wanted to write something like this (Reaper!Bones/Kirk) that didn't come about in Olduvai or when Jim was dying or whatnot... I'm on it.

Jim was moving around Len's quarters, absently cleaning up little messes that Len hadn't gotten to yet. As is habit, he was singing some song from centuries before. Len wasn't really listening, at least not to the words. Jim had a good voice, strong and level, so it wasn't a hardship to hear him singing all the time, which he did, at least when they were alone. Then slowly, the lyrics themselves trickled into his brain (more likely the part of him that remembered abso-fuckin-lutely everything was bringing them to his attention), and he had to bite back a curse

"Bones!" Jim shook him, alarmed when the tears just flowed faster. "Len, please, baby, talk to me, what's wrong?" He carried him out of the bathroom and placed him on his bunk, wrapping around him. Bones had never fallen apart like this, and it was scaring him

OMG!!!! I had a little squeegasm when I saw this post...then I started reading and it got even better. I love the thing that's it's his song, it was written for him. 'Cause yeah, Eugenics war='current event' for our time. Battle hymn=great detail, bb. Love Love Love. Now I know why I prompted this, so a super author could give it some seriously awesome life. (also...is greedy OP, so...moar...o.O? mebe, pretty plz?)

for sure, for sure... my brain dies for a moment but there will indeed be more, probably within the half hour... and then I've got to update my amnesia fill... *sigh* so much Reaper, so little time.

Len went to the Observation Deck, hoping looking at the stars would help. Of course, he kept a healthy distance from the clear material (thank god it wasn't glass), even though it was the same thickness as the regular hull. He'd taken to doing something like this, whenever Reaper showed up in his psyche, and if he hadn't needed it after the song, he definitely needed it after bringing up the files on Olduvai

Is it possible to wibble and squee at the same time? 'Cause I think I totally just did.
Excellent work on this. And seriously-
"""Move along, through the ashes of a dream," Jim suddenly sang, and this time, rather than causing pain, they carried the message they were supposed to: salvation, forgiveness.
"Move along, and see myself anew again," he answered, and they stared out into the blackness, both thinking of the future, and not the past."""
*wibbly!sigh* LovelyLovely!! This is truly a fantastic piece and exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you so much. ^ - ^

I'm glad I wrote what you wanted and honestly, my brain was still dead at that point so I have no idea where the sentimental tribble came from that gave that ides for the last few lines.
Anyway, I'm glad I could fill your prompt because it was... amazing...

It's when we're braindedz that we're most open to the muses, and rabid tribbles.
