I have three levels of what I eat: what I cook, what I buy in restaurants, and what I eat at other people's houses.

Cooking for myself I have a lot of guidelines I try to follow: organic, locally produced vegetables, no meat, fair-trade products if they have to be shipped in from another country, ect. I'm always learning more about what is available, and trying new things. It's a lot of work, but it's an adventure.

Eating at restaurants, I generally don't order meat, but I also don't tend to worry too much about where the vegetables come from. I do insist on buying fair-trade chocolate bars though.

When I'm eating at other people's houses, it all goes out the window. I'll eat anything that anyone puts in front of me. Most of my friends know the standards that I keep in my kitchen, but I feel no need to force my opinions on them when they're cooking.
