well, I am done with all the requirements of cmu's SCS BS program. just like everything else for the past few months, I still haven't felt the big "I'm done", thanks both to the couple other things I have left for this break and also to the fact that I'll still take classes part-time next semester. anyway, on to the traditional retrospective.

i started keeping a to-do list sometime around the spring, and it took a couple months to get rid of this worry even after i had the list. at some point i just started trusting myself that if it needed to get done, it would get put it on the list immediately. and the other side of the coin takes effort, too: if i don't want to write something on the list, i have to decide first that i don't care if it doesn't get done.
i also get more open tasks than would ever get done in one day - usually most of them are not due immediately. if there's one thing i want to focus on ("write statement of purpose draft"), the other items get marked "after draft" (and then they print in a less threatening colour). i can still decide to do those things first, but it just means i still need to get around to the big one.
