one of the nicest things about being back in pittsburgh is how much my house is starting to feel like home. despite 5 years (going on 6) of living in pittsburgh, this is the first year i've not had to move residences when summer came around. i thought that just meant i didn't have to deal with moving all my stuff and settling in again, but i'm ( Read more... )

I like how that person walking past your yard appears to have two different-colored pant legs because of the way the light falls.

Yeah, house-cleaning always makes me feel great after I'm done. (I just have to work on being more willing to start it and continue it in the first place!)

Having seen lots of other people's houses/apartments by this time, it's surprising to me how wide the spectrum can be of how much time people put into their living spaces. By far the largest style is the "student piecemeal-acquisition transient clutter" esthetic -- this is also mine -- but every now and then I go somewhere with matching furniture, nice art on the walls, etc., and it's sort of nice...
