Just to let everyone know....

Our Open Letter is now officially live!

I have emailed copies of it with the link to the following people:

ljkrissy
markf
coffeechica
arie
rachel
suggestions@livejournal.com
feedback@livejournal.com

A copy has also been faxed to the offices of Six Apart.

Tomorrow morning, hard copies will go out via US Postal Service to:

Barak Berkowitz, CEO and Chairman of Six Apart's Board of Directors
Mena Trott, President of Six Apart
David Tokheim, EVP & GM, Consumer
Scott Kraft, EVP Marketing

I want to reiterate to everyone that this is not, and was never intended to be, a SPAM type of campaign. We do not need to send them any more copies than I have already sent. The staff of their mailroom did nothing to us and set no policies. Why would we want to put them through the receipt of thousands of letters? Besides, they are not going to take us seriously or be at all inclined to work with us if we innundate their offices with excess letters. The environment would also be very unhappy with us for wasting that many trees. So for all of these reasons and more, PLEASE don't do it! Bad, bad idea!

Again, thanks to all of you who have been particpating this week, whether it was by signing, making suggestions for edits, assisting me with notifying everyone that it was time to come back and sign, and/or advertising the link on your journals. This would never have happened without all of you!

I honestly believe that LiveJournal and Six Apart are listening to us, and will respond to our letter. I don't believe that they are on a mission to run their company into the ground, and I think that they are beginning to realize that making this large a chunk of their userbase leave them would certainly contribute to that. Let's give them a few days to think about and talk over what we have to say, and see how they respond after that.

Thanks again guys!

~Lisa

ETA - Just wanted to give you guys a heads up and let you know that markf, coffeechica, arie, and rachel have all responded to my emails and let me know that they are passing along, and discussing with each other and other appropriate people, what we said in our letter. They do intend to get back with us some time next week. Letters to 6A offices should be there Monday or Tuesday according to the USPS.

~Lisa
