"OWEN!" Jack called as he helped Ianto bring the dead creature into the Hub. "We've got another one! Same thing, if the weird tingling where it scratched me is any indication!" He grunted slightly as he shifted the creature's weight. "How's Gwen?!"

Owen walked over to Gwen, pulling at one of the blankets to cover her up. "When will you learn to do what you're told?" He murmured, shaking his head. "Rhys better make sure the obey bit's in there, or his life is going to be hell," he said, smirking.

Glancing back towards Toshiko, who was still sitting at her desk watching him, he gave her an impatient are you still there look, before glancing around him.

"Jack, I need to run some tests."

Toshiko sat in miserable silence, watching as Owen fussed over Gwen. If that wasn't bad enough, he gave her that annoyed look, the one he always had when she'd done something she knew he'd never forgive her for- or forget.

Standing up, head bowed, she waited as he moved to one side, silently went over and sat down beside Gwen, then smiled at her, before looking up at Owen as he turned away.

That wasn't what had annoyed him. What had annoyed him was how easily the rest of team had been willing to overlook and 'forget' about him as soon as things had been back to normal. As if the last months hadn't happened at all. Not even Owen, whom Ianto would have pegged as one to hold a grudge just for the sake of holding one. Tosh was back to mooning over Owen while the bastard wouldn't even look at her... Gwen ( ... )

Gwen smirked slightly to Owen's teasing, "Oh, trust me, it will be, but only in his vows," she joked. When he ran off to do tests for Jack, she closed her eyes and felt someone come nearer.

Opening one, she offered Toshiko a smile, "Sorry to get you in trouble," she said, "But, he won't listen to anyone. Not that he should be bossing you around, anyway. I was the one in charge until a couple days ago." But, feeling this ill, she was glad to give the reins to Jack again.

She shut her eyes again, shivering into her blankets.

"SO GO RUN SOME!" Jack shouted back at Owen across the Hub irritably.

He looked at Ianto. "You know," he said, wanting to stop him before he left to tend to the car. "Since I have to have tests now and you know how much I love those, some coffee would really make me feel better... if it's still on offer," he said, giving Ianto his best puppy-dog eyes as he started to back towards the stairs. "Doubly so if I'm being poisoned to death," he added as extra incentive.

"I fully intend to, when you manage to get down here," Owen yelled back at Jack.

Glancing up at the walkway, he scowled, and what the hell was wrong with Ianto all of a sudden? Every time he happened to notice the other man, he had a lemon-sucking expression plastered all over it. Maybe he was more pissed-off with Jack than they were!

"And Ianto, before you do a bunk, I'll need you to come and time something."

"It's not your fault," Toshiko replied, smiling sadly and looking down at her hands. "We got off on the wrong foot from day one, then things got steadily worse." That was probably the understatement of the year, make that any year!

Maybe if she had been more his type, he would have forgiven her, or at least put in the effort to be civil more often (not that he was rude all the time- he wasn't), when they weren't actually doing something work related.

He frowned, not liking the sound of that at all. Jack dying wasn't a think Ianto found very funny or something to joke about. Even if Jack seemed to cope with it that way. "I'll make some coffee when I get back from cleaning out the car, Sir," he nodded.

And Owen was starting to piss him off. Ianto was tempted to tell the doctor to fuck off, he wasn't in charge and never had been to be honest. That friendship, if one could even call it that, felt like it was slipping through his fingers.

Funny how they suddenly remembered he was there when they needed Ianto for something.

"I have a car to clean and other things to do," Ianto say, making his way down and to the garage. "I'm sure you or Jack are capable of holding a stopwatch."

Gwen felt truly awful for Toshiko, especially considering she knew how the other woman felt about Owen, but she carried on with him regardless. And she made absolutely no excuse for it. She was surprised Tosh even talked to her civilly at all. "Well, either way, he doesn't have to be a right arse about it." And now she felt bad for badmouthing Owen, when he had just spent so much time taking care of her.

There was much tension in the air now that everyone was back in the Hub. Perhaps it was difficult for everyone to get back into the swing of things with Jack's return. And she wanted to be in the action, not lying down like an invalid--not that she had any energy to move much regardless.

"I hope he figures out what's wrong with me soon, though," she murmured, trying to mask the worry in her voice.
