“We have certain responsibilities.”
“Yes we do sir.”
When it was clear he wasn’t going to respond further she uncrossed her arms and moved to stand in front of him.
“What is this all about, Bill? Why are you bringing this up today?”
“Today would have been my wedding anniversary to Carolanne. We would have been married 25 years.”
Laura took a step back and averted her eyes.
“I see and you’re feeling guilty that you’re having feelings for someone other than your wife, especially on what would have been your silver anniversary.”
He closed the distance between them once more, placing his hand under her chin, forcing her to look at him.
“No Laura, Gods no. To be honest it worries me that we would have been married 25 years and I didn’t feel for her half of what I feel for you. It scares me a little.”
“I feel the same and it scares me too, Bill. It’d be nice if I had someone to talk to when I get overwhelmed by it. Maybe even someone to comfort me.”
“I’d like that too, Laura. Gods I want that, but-“
Her lips on his silenced him from speaking further.
