Parts 1-3 Part Four
The first time Helena saw Gina, she mistook her for another Six but an air of sadness surrounded this newly confident being and there were subtle differences to this particular model, her hair was darker & she was less made up than her seductress counterparts, not that Helena didn’t think she was a seductress; weren’t they all?
She’d been walking around her imaginary lake, with D’anna in toe, doing her best to block out D’anna’s ramblings about God‘s forgiveness. She merely gave the odd nod & smile occasionally when it seemed that D’anna was looking for a response. She saw the Six approaching and she was suddenly aware of D’anna’s silence, she also took hold of Helena’s arm as they walked, which was new but Helena didn’t resist. She felt the knots in her stomach tighten, as the Six fixed her gaze on Helena. Eyeing her, like Caprica once had but this time, there was also another emotion on her face, one of longing which she was desperately trying to hide.
Her blue-grey eyes watery in the afternoon sunlight. Her arms where folded across her chest, not unlike the regular Sixes but this one held a darker aura, a history that Admiral Cain couldn’t help but share…
Two days later, Helena sat crossed legged on the deck. The sun had gone down a while ago and she was left with the twinkling stars for company, she closed her eyes breathing in that warm scent of pine again. Suddenly she was aware of another presence and for a moment she sat completely still thinking it was just D’anna again.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?”
Cain’s eyes snapped open & she stood hurriedly, backing towards the edge of the deck. Gina stepped out of the shadows and into the porch light, her arms across her chest again. Helena stood straight her arms behind her back in true military fashion.
“Hello Admiral.” Gina said simply, her eyes firmly fixed on Cain, she took a step forward
“That’s quite close enough…” Helena stated, coldly
“It never used to be, did it Admiral?” Helena’s stomach squirmed, doing somersaults but her face was blank and she refused to show Gina, what she was feeling or to be lulled into a false sense of security.
“Stop with the Admiral, we both know perfectly well I never was an Admiral”
As she looked at Gina, Helena couldn’t help but remember the softness of her skin, the smell of her hair, the feel of her skilled hands on Helena’s wanton body. She swallowed pushing the thoughts away. Here stood in front of her was the one ‘person’, she had ever really loved, ever really felt a deeper connection with, even her XO had once implied that she’d met her match in Gina and now as she looked into her former lovers eyes, she wondered what it had all been for. If in fact it had been anything at all or whether it was all just part of her programming.
A stab of betrayal, sliced through her like a knife, how could she feel such betrayal when she was a cylon herself? It didn’t make sense. D’anna would’ve said it was just her human experiences taking control again. Something caught her eye to the left of her and out of the shadows stepped Helena’s imaginary Gina, her face battered and bruised, exactly like the last time she saw its corporeal counterpart.
“Betrayal? What about what you did to me, to us?” it pointed at Gina and Helena followed its finger, looking at the real version once again.
“What would like me to call you, Darling?” She said with an air of sarcasm.
“Darling, baby, sweetheart?” it mocked in the same tone.
“Helena is just fine” She murmured, her gazed returning back to the incorporeal being standing next to her, it sickened her to look at how Gina once look, but she knew that was the effect it wanted.
“Gina… I’m…” She trailed off still looking at the battered image next to her.
“You’re what?” Gina said, her voice on edge and filled with bitter anger, she knew what Helena wanted to say, she could feel her remorse radiating from her but what did it matter now?
“What do you want that Caprica hasn’t already delivered? You can’t kill me”
“No I can’t but then I’m not here to kill you, despite what you may think; I’ve always deplored violence”
Helena stared at her, her mouth open, not quite believing what she was hearing.
“Oh please, you’re not going to believe that are you?” Her conscience grimaced. Helena laughed lightly.
“And you expect me to believe that?”
“Believe what you like, it makes no difference to me” She said matter-of-factly, shrugging slightly.
“She’s lying” Her incorporeal double announced.
Cain didn’t know who to look at or speak to, she wanted to tell her conscience to shut up. Instead she adjusted her position, turning away slightly from the real Gina, showing trust but still ready should she try anything. Gina moved closer, leaning on the rail of the deck. Her dress hugging her slim frame, she was maybe a foot away and the close proximity, sent shivers down Cain’s spine.
Butterflies reawakening in her dormant soul and every nerve seemed to be alight with desire. By the Gods how she wanted to run her fingers through Gina’s blonde hair and down her lean figure.
“Beautiful isn’t it?” Gina repeated for a second time.
“What?” She said slightly flustered as her brain snapped back into focus, her cheeks burning.
“The lake, the sky, you always did love the sky, Helena”
“Like she can see what you’re seeing!”
“How do you know what I can see?” Gina laughed
“Do you think I’ve forgotten everything you told me, Helena? This is the place, isn’t it? The one you told me about, the one you said you’d always have. I used to wonder back then how you could imagine it so vividly”
Suddenly Helena felt light headed, such a small detail. How could Gina possibly have remembered when she herself had forgotten, after all it meant to her and she had forgotten.
“You described it so perfectly, remember? Even down to the smell of pine, that’s how I can see it because I remember you laying in my arms after frakking me and describing this place so vividly and telling me that this was going to be our place…”
“But it wasn’t our place, was it Helena? Because the next day you locked me in the brig and let your men do what the frak they liked to me and you didn’t even have the guts to look me in the eye when you interrogated me. Isn’t that right Admiral?”
Suddenly Cain was forcing Gina back against the wall of the house, her hands around Gina’s neck. She looked into Gina’s eyes and said simply “I didn’t know Gina… I’m sorry…”
And in that moment of weakness, Gina turned the tables and was pinning Cain against the wall.
“Just like I didn’t know…” The voice echoed inside her.
“What’re you gonna do, Gina? Frak me, tell me you love me, then lock me up and do what I did to you? An eye for an eye?”
“Nothing I do to you can ever compare to the torture of what you did to me, I should’ve known then you were a cylon, no human woman would’ve subjected another woman to that kind of brutality. Without your henchmen you’re nothing Helena Cain, you’re just another frakking cylon. The very thing you loathed so damn much is what you turned out to be”
Her grip tightened around Cain’s throat and Helena grasped at her wrist. As the air became thin and insubstantial. She lifted a finger, catching a lock of stray hair and brushed it away from Gina’s face. Gina frowned but Cain felt her pulse quicken and she inhaled sharply as Cain ran a finger along her hairline and across her jaw line. She traced her thumb over Gina’s cheekbone, where the bruises were now gone. She’d imagined this moment a thousand times, done it a thousand times and now Gina was really here, standing in front of her, slowly choking her.
“I’m sorry Gina…” She whispered and at that moment Gina knew she meant it, she released her grip but suddenly Cain shoved her backward and she almost toppled over.
Cain grabbed the collar of her dress and with one swing, struck her across her jaw. Gina stumbled backward before regaining her balance.
“And that’s for killing me” Cain muttered, Gina laughed then lunged at her with the full weight of her body, knocking Helena back and striking her as she straddled her hips, holding her firmly so that she was unable to move. Blood gushed from a split in Helena’s lip.
“I’m sorry Admiral, dying from a gun shot wound is nothing compared to being blown apart by a nuclear device”
Helena grabbed the collar of Gina’s dress again, pulling her down into a rough kiss. Teeth grinding on lips and tongues interlocking in wet desperation. The taste of blood swirling around their mouths. Gina slammed Cain’s hands back down onto the deck, pinning them above her head as Gina’s mouth moved feverishly down Cain’s neck sucking hard then biting down on the tense muscle as she gasped, every time Helena made an attempt to move Gina slammed her back against the deck.
Cain began to struggle, the words nuclear device ringing in her ear causing her to slowly come to her senses. Gina’s grip was tight and un-relenting but Helena knew if she didn’t do something Gina would be able to do anything she wanted and she would be powerless to stop her. She wriggled underneath Gina’s vice like thighs. Her scent intoxicating, clouding Cain’s mind as she managed to free one hand running it up Gina’s toned arm and narrowly missing Gina’s attempt to capture it again.
Her fingers found their way up her neck and began tangling themselves in her blonde hair, as Gina slowly began to peel back the layers of the shirt Helena was wearing. Suddenly Helena flipped her over, as she loosen her grip on Cain’s other hand. Now Helena was straddling the blonde, under the tight grip of her thighs.
“What do you mean, nuclear device?” Helena breathed into Gina ear, she pulled up holding Gina’s flailing arms securely above her head.
“What?” Gina said, frowning from her secured position.
“You said being shot was nothing compared to being blown apart by a nuke”
“And it isn’t” Gina said teasingly, struggling slightly.
“Gina, will you just tell me or do I have to beat it out of you?” Helena began annoyed,
Gina frowned & then with all her strength forced Cain off her. She stumbled backward before sitting up looking at Gina’s hurt expression, covering her face.
“I’m sorry, poor choice of words. Just tell me okay?” She forced an attentive smile, being attentive wasn’t Helena but she knew this was the only way to get what she wanted.
“I set off an nuclear explosion and that’s how I died” Gina said blankly. “I’m not proud of it… And I’m not sure why, except to escape.”
“They captured you again? The Pegasus?” Helena said with a look of concern.
“No, President Baltar saw to that…”
“President? Baltar won the election?” she said slightly horrified.
She’d liked Baltar but he’d seemed too spineless to be President of the Colonies.
“Yes and he plans to lead settlement on New Caprica…”
“Settlement?” Cain raised an eyebrow “You can’t be serious?”
“Yes I am, some random planet that just happens to support human life. He even expected me to go…” She trailed off as she saw Helena was deep in thought
“What about the Pegasus? Who took command?”
“Don’t worry your precious ship is just fine, as far as I know anyway. Lee Adama took command. You can’t want to go back, surely?” She said sarcastically, getting to her feet.
“What? Don’t be ridiculous! How could I possibly go back!” Helena said absent-mindedly still thinking over the nuclear device.
“Well, exactly; they would know immediately that you were a cylon but I’m guessing that doesn’t stop you from wanting it back…” She trailed off looking at Cain’s furrowed brow.
“Just don’t ok? You don’t know anything about what I want” Cain snapped defensively, a vacant expression on her face still in thought.
“Sure Helena, like I don’t know how much that damn ship meant to you! Like I wasn’t the one person you opened up to, you trusted & now that’s all frakked to hell because of what we both are… I wish I had blown up the damn ship, then maybe I could let of it & so could you!”
“Wait a second… If you used a nuke, that‘s traceable, right?” Helena looked up at her dubiously, her brain processing the information.
“That’s it! The radiation signature…” She exclaimed before she disappeared to find D‘anna, leaving Gina to wondered if she’d just been played…

Part Five
Helena ran as fast as she could down the long bare corridor. Her mind buzzing, piecing together the information her brain contained. She just hoped the rumours she had been hearing were true. Maybe this was the way to clear things with Caprica but Caprica alone would never believe her. As she turned the corner she almost knocked Boomer flying. It was then she remembered D’anna’s rantings about the pair after she’d downloaded. It couldn’t have been clearer if it’d slapped her in the face.
“Watch where you’re going, will you? You almost knocked me flying!”
“Sharon! I was just coming to find you, I need to talk to you about something!” Boomer continued to walk, with Helena hurrying along behind her.
“Can’t it wait? I’m on my way to a meeting.”
“No it can’t. Please just stop for a moment.” Helena put her hand on Boomer’s arm to stop her and the Cylon stopped to look at her.
“What is it Helena?” she stated. An annoyed tone to her voice
“Is it true, you and Caprica want to find Galactica?” she queried, praying Boomer would listen, her brown eyes glinting back at her.
“I don’t think you should concern yourself, with idle gossip” Sharon said turning to leave.
“It’s not idle gossip though is it?”
“Leave it alone Helena, this doesn’t concern you” Sharon stated, walking away.
“I know how to find the Fleet!” Helena called after her.
Sharon stopped and turned back, taking hold of Helena’s arm and pulling her into a corner. Her grip was strong, pinching Helen’s soft skin.
“Will you lower your voice!” Sharon scolded, releasing her.
“How else would you have listened? I’m sure Caprica has filled your head with enough stories to make you not want to give me the time of day but you know what its like being an officer of the Colonial Fleet.” She began, defending herself.
“Don’t you dare compare me to you! What you did was despicable! But then there’s the big difference between Pegasus and Galactica. We had the old man, who wouldn’t even frak over a cylon to get the information he wanted. He follows the rules and that’s the kind of ship I came from!”
“You don’t know anything about my ship or what I went through, so take your own damned advice and get your frakking facts straight!” Cain bit back. Sharon folded her arm, unfazed and her head cocked slightly.
“Are you quite done, because I have a meeting to get to!”
“No, will you just wait; damn it! Do you want to find Galactica or not? I’m trying to help you!”
“Just spit it out, I don’t have all frakking day”
“I was just with Gina,” Sharon raised an eye brow, smiling slightly.
“And she was explaining to me how she died… She died in a nuclear explosion…”
“So?”
“Do I have to spell it out for you! Nuclear explosions leave a radiation signature, which is traceable and quite distinctive! Find this and you find Galactica!”
“That’s all very well and good but I doubt Galactica will still be in range by the time we get there.” Sharon said sceptically.
“Don’t you know? Baltar won the presidential election, he’s planning settlement upon a habitable planet, they discovered. He’s even named it New Caprica. They’re not going anywhere. You find the radiation signature and you find the fleet” Sharon half smiled, not wanting to praise or reward Helena’s intel.
“Thank you Helena, I will take this under advisement”
“Is that it?” Helena said slightly disappointed.
“For now, yes.” She said as she turned to go
“But you will tell Caprica, won’t you?” Cain said worried for a moment that she wouldn’t get recognition for her trouble. Sharon laughed.
“Why’re you so worried about Caprica? Gina’s put a stop to any vengeance Caprica might have been planning.” She said as she walked away leaving Helena slightly puzzled.

Part Six
Helena made her way back to her room, wondering why she could no longer see the path back to her lake. She closed her eyes and tried to concentrate and as she turned the corner, the fresh scent of pine wafted on the warm breeze; the beginnings of a path beginning to appear. Walking back to the house, she felt strangely calm and as she approached the deck, Gina was standing looking out towards the lake. She looked up as Helena made her way up the steps.
“You’re still here…”
“You expected me to just disappear?” Gina said frowning slight, the electricity between them mounting as Helena came nearer. Helena smiled.
Suddenly Cain grabbed her pulling Gina to her with fierce determination. With one hand on her lower back, she pulled her pelvis closer. Her other hand buried in Gina’s hair, her lips connecting with Gina’s sending little pulses of electricity though them both. Cain ravaged Gina’s lips hungrily. Her tongue stabbing her mouth, duelling with hers before she pulled away and looked Gina in the eye.
Gina looked stunned for a moment, her eyes wide and her mouth open, as though she were going to speak. In truth, she felt weak like Helena was a drug that she was hooked on and she had gone with it for too long. Withdrawal pangs threatening to consume her. The longing too much to bear. Cain frowned for a moment feeling the desperation welling in the pit of her stomach. Gina’s mouth curved into a seductive smile and Cain knew then the game had begun.
Immediately Gina thrust Cain against the back wall of the house, separating her legs expertly with her knee and pressing it up hard into Cain’s warm crotch, heat emulating through her slacks. She smiled deviously before pulling Helena into a rough kiss, crushing her lips against her own.
Helena’s hands ran the length of Gina’s toned torso, she reached for the front zipper on her white dress, teasing it down to reveal the roundedness of her breasts, her nipples erect into hard peaks. Helena ran her thumb over one teasing it beneath the fabric of Gina’s bra. Their tongues probing each others mouths as Gina continued to press her knee against Helena’s hot crotch.
Gina reached under Cain’s shirt playing with one of her hard nipples through the soft fabric, then pinched it roughly as Helena gasped, a smile still on her face, her tongue between her teeth as she looking into Helena’s eyes wantonly. She pulled Helena’s hips closed cupping her butt cheeks as she rocked against her pelvis.
Helena reached behind her, sliding the screen door open, Gina stepped out of her dress as Cain pulled her into the bedroom. Roles reversed Helena pushed Gina down onto the bed, unclasping her bra to reveal her perfectly rounded breasts. Helena crawled up the bed, her legs either side of Gina’s. She could feel the heat from her body as she hovered above her, teasingly for a moment as she looked into Gina’s pleading eyes.
Cain slowly lowered her head, trailing her tongue along one of Gina’s breasts while her fingers teased her areola, her mouth slowly finding what it had been craving. She took a nipple between her teeth , nibbling it slightly before sucking hungrily. Gina arched and moaned, tugging at Cain’s shirt, pulling it up over her head and disregarding it in a pile on the floor. Helena ached for more, it had been so long since they’d been together and she just wanted it to last, taking full advantage of her time with Gina.
Gina’s hands began to roam Helena’s body, seeking out past memories and remembering where and how Cain liked to be touched. She began to unbutton Cain’s slacks as Helena began to feather kisses along her ribs and down her tight flat stomach, sliding her hands under the waist band of Gina’s black panties and pulling them off in one swift motion.
Gina tensed, old memories resurfacing. Helena looked up, seeing Gina frown, she ran her fingers lightly over her skin from her thigh, across the concave of her hip, back up her stomach, under her breast and up into her hair, where her hand lay resting. She stroked the contours of her face and Gina looked up into Helena’s eyes before she kissed her softly.
“Its ok, we don’t have to do this” Helena whispered, her longing still etched onto her face as she straddled Gina’s hips. She smiled lovingly down at Gina. A gesture that sent little butterflies dancing around Gina’s insides.
“Do you love me, Helena?” She queried.
“I do, I love you Gina and Gods, I wish I could take back everything I let happen to you” Helena whispered, her voice hoarse, she forced a smile; a lump beginning to form in her throat.
“Then that’s enough,” Gina said simply.
Suddenly she flipped Helena over, she that she was now in the position of power, devouring her mouth. Months of longing and desperation pouring into each other. Gina slid Cain’s slacks and panties off in one go, disregarding them with her panties on the floor. Then teasing one of Helena’s nipples with her expert fingers, she feathered kisses down Helena’s lean torso, burying her face in the wet curls below her navel. Helena spread her legs, groaning slightly as Gina placed a soft kiss on the hood of her exposed clit. Helena moaned and arched her back, burying Gina’s face deeper into her wet opening. She slid her hands under Helena’s ass lifting her up and flicking her tongue against her throbbing clit.
Helena’s hands enveloped Gina’s hair, curling strands around her fingers while her hips bucked against Gina’s teasing tongue on her exposed clit. Slipping two fingers inside, Gina wriggled her tongue around Helena’s opening, then circled her clit before Helena pulled her up to kiss her mouth, tongues colliding, chasing each others while Gina’s fingers began to pump in and out. Slowly at first then faster, increasing pressure with speed. Helena’s hips bucked wildly in a rhythmic motion to Gina’s hand. Her gasps turning to moans, growing louder the more turned on she became until she exploded, screaming pulling Gina closer to her, clinging while she rode out her orgasm. Shaking, quivering and shuddering before she finally collapsed, her breathing heavy and laboured.
Gina kissed her softly, a smile of satisfaction on her beautiful face. Laying side by side, they held onto each other, not saying a word but just looking into each others eyes. Helena ran her hand lightly down Gina’s side, circling her hip and down towards her wet curls before Gina caught her hand, a frown on her face.
“Let me?” Helena whispered, kissing her forehead.
“I… I can’t…”
“You can’t let the woman you love, make love to you but you can let Baltar frak you?” Cain said simply and un-accusing.
“How did you know?”
“He’s in love with Caprica. It’s only natural that he’d try it with you and besides he did help you. I suppose I ought to thank the slimy bastard”
Gina smiled, she couldn’t explain and Helena didn’t ask her to. She kissed Helena, her tongue slipping inside her open mouth. She took Helena’s hand, guiding it slowly down her body, leaving Cain’s hand to bury itself in her warm wet curls, moving her leg up and resting it on top of Helena’s hip allowing her full access. She cupped Helena’s face, looking her in the eyes before kissing her again.
Helena’s fingers began circling Gina’s slick pearl, first one way and then the other and it wasn’t long before Gina was panting in her lovers arms…
Later, a glass of ambrosia in one hand and a lighted cigarette in the other. Helena cradled Gina in her arms. She felt at peace, like she had no where to go and she didn’t give a frak about it. This was the only place she wanted to be right now. She took a long drag of her cigarette, it was the only time she ever smoked; after sex…
Gina stirred, looking up into Helena’s brown eyes.
“Did you & Starbuck ever…” She trailed off blushing slightly at the accusation. Helena laughed.
“No… We didn’t, I had eyes for someone else at the time!” Gina smiled.
“What, you weren’t attracted to her?” She laughed again, puffing on her cigarette.
“Of course, she’s damn hot! I don’t deny that!”
“Well maybe you’ll get your chance now”
“What’re you suggesting? A threesome?” Cain raised an eyebrow, smiling wickedly and Gina laughed.
“No… I just meant, she’s coming back. So…”
“Back where?”
“Here, back to Caprica. Baltar said she’s being sent back to ‘rescue’ the resistance fraction”
“Oh really?” Cain mused “Maybe we’ll get that threesome after all!”
“Hey!” Gina said playfully slapping Helena
“I’d rather have you to myself, thank you! We’ve already wasted too much time as it is”
“I couldn’t agree more” Cain said smiling, planting a kiss on Gina’s soft lips.
A while later as Gina slept silently for the first time. Helena slipped out in search of Boomer. Starbuck’s return should prove to be vital intel and she wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity that she could be counted on, if not included in any future plans. She may even suggest a few ideas herself, that she had been mulling over since Gina’s revelation about Starbuck…

Epilogue
One year later, Helena Cain watch in silent wonder as the Cylon occupation took hold on New Caprica. She watched from the shadows as the first line of Human Cylon representatives met with President Baltar forcing him to surrender as his eyes locked with Caprica- Six’s.
She felt pride swell in her chest as he asked how they’d found them, hearing Doral explaining to him about the radiation signature, knowing she’d led them here. She watched Baltar put the pieces together, remembering Gina as a tear slipped down his roughened cheek.
What her motives were she didn’t quite know herself. She often wondered if she’d never fully let go of her human experiences or maybe she’d just embraced her Cylon heritage after all. She also wondered if it had been self preservation, after what they did to Gina. Her remorse and grief swept up in the need to survive.
The decision to ‘box’ Gina was not made lightly, as they assured her; arguing her point until she was threatened herself. They had both died in an explosion aboard a Cylon Basestar, an explosion Gina had set. When Helena download and Gina didn’t that was when she had been told. She tried to reason with them, telling them about her nightmares and flashbacks but that only seemed to fuel their argument. Gina was too ‘damaged’, her previous experiences had corrupted her mind and the decision to put her memories in cold storage was a necessary act, or so they said.
Maybe her need to find the humans stemmed from that. They’re refusal to listen to her, they should have listened. Gina was ‘hers’, she had loved & taken care of her but she had also contributed to the corruption, as they so brutally reminded her….
Self preservation, that’s what it was all about…
The End.
