A Bunch of BSG Femslashy Discussion Questions...
So, okay, I am curious and you know, a femslash community is a good place to ask, especially when they're Battlestar-themed questions and this is BSG Femslash...
1. How do the power dynamics work in your book? I mean, in my rulebooks, Roslin Always Tops (and that's even in het)...except maybe with Six, and even then, that's probably the most power-crackly pairing, and really hard to make work plausibly unless you go for Roslin-is-a-Cylon stuff (which I do in canon, but not in fic, unless I can make it suitably fucky). But then what? And what does topping mean in the story?
2. Kink, and the lack thereof. Or maybe it's just me that notes there's an odd lack of kink in the fandom in general. The one Starbuck/Roslin today with a strap-on caught my eye because I don't even know if that's happened yet for that pairing. I mean, I'm more of a psychological dynamics perv (so my friend just said of Six/Roslin, "they'd both think they were topping" and I immediately went, "ooh!"), but there are some opportunities. For example, Kara begs for some genderambiguity and genderfucking. And hmm. Like, I dunno. What would you like to see more of, both writers and readers?
3. Whither all the "Roslin is Older, and Her Joints Always Ache!" fic? I get the point that especially with The Cancer, it's not necessarily time for swinging from chandeliers. But there's a difference between swinging from chandeliers and making every fic about how Roslin's slightly frail, because she's...not, really. Anyone who can survive the Kobol trek with cancer that advanced is going to be able to have most kinds of sex you can have on a crowded spaceship without going too far out of her way.
I'm not saying there's not a difference, especially because of the cancer but I think quite a few sex acts that are being put as physically demanding just aren't that demanding for someone who's in excellent shape given late-stage cancer and age, and who canonically seems to not complain of this stuff? And given that Ellen Tigh is maybe five years younger and has literally swung from things...
So I suppose the ultimate discussion question is: what is the hottest BSG pairing/scenario that we can think up that's also in-character? Because that, I don't know, though I'd say it would involve Six, Roslin, and/or Starbuck, power dynamics, and because I'm a sucker for it, dirty talk, but YMMV, so...
