Need Help

Noob here and I have a question. I'm in the middle of writing a fic and need to know if Baltar ever addresses Head!Six by a name--or does he just direct address her without calling her something in particular? I need some way for him to identify her without actually "talking" to her. I would guess that he'd think of her as Natasi since that's how ( Read more... )

She whose name was never spoken. :) Baltar has never called her by name. In the writing you can call her whatever you think best identifies her; shouldn't be a problem as long as you're consistent.

I'd love to hear about your epic storyline, I've been a fan since the mini-series originally aired, so I know a little something about the show. My email is kimbari at gmail.com.

Thanks for the quick response! I think I'll just use Six and be done with it. I'm not sure how many people know the Natasi name and her other personas really don't equate with Head!Six. Besides, it's a Crack!fic so it really doesn't matter that much. It was just bugging me.

I'll email you directly about the other. Thanks!

According to one of Ron Moore's podcasts featuring James Callis and a bunch of the other actors, James Callis was told that Baltar never knew her name. The conceit was that he was so self-centered and so uninterested in Six at first except as a conquest, that he didn't really pay attention. He either didn't ever ask her her name, or he didn't pay attention when she gave him one. Either way, the explanation Callis was given was that Baltar eventually realized he didn't know her name, but too much had passed by the time he realized that and he was too embarrassed to ask her, lol.

Yes, such a perfect little tidbit to help define Baltar. Makes parts of that last ep even more irritating to me.

Hmmm, maybe I should have him call her "THE WOMAN" or "THAT CYLON BITCH" or something. LOL

Actually, if you're talking about that "Tartarus" story, then actually that changes my answer a bit. By the time of New Caprica, Baltar clearly knew her as "Caprica Six," or for short, "Caprica," which is what the other Cylons almost always called her. In the scenes where Roslin and Co. drug-torture him, Baltar refers to her as "Caprica" and a moment later as "Caprica Six".

That being said, we've never seen him on New Caprica referring to her by any name, but I think you can assume he'd call her what all the other Cylons were calling her. In the miniseries though, he never ever referred to her by name.

Um, did I mention I need to get out more? :P

Yes! That's exactly what I was looking for--thank you! I actually had that thought, as well, that he would've gotten used to calling her what she was called on New Caprica since he spent four months with them there (plus some time on the basestar afterwards). I just wasn't sure if that would fly since, technically, Caprica Six and Head!Six aren't really the same (I'm a bit anal at time, what can I say?). But, yes, it will work for the Tartarus story.

If you get out more, where am I supposed to get my answers from?

I don't suppose you know much about languages in the Colonies? Like did they have multiple languages and, if so, how many and how long before they were all speaking the same one? I've checked the Wiki on some of these but, I think your avatar applies well to me when I read through that thing--I don't find a lot of their explanations very clear much of the time (or thorough). Or maybe I'm just starting to get dumber with age....

I don't remember any references about it on the show, but I have one source I can look that up that might shed some light on the languages question. I'll look at it tonight and see what I can come up with.
