Obviously being some time since you posted this you most lkely know now, but yes - the American Blu-ray set is region-free. However, the UK Blu-Ray set just released features much better packaging and retains all the features and extras that the American set does. However, I can not tell you if this is playable outside of Region 2. But if you live in the UK, you can pick it up pretty cheaply (I got mine from Amazon.co.uk for £112:99 with free delivery).
hi buddy. well, you need to look at it from a different perspective i think. yes, it IS a lot of money to lay out for one show - however, BSG is unlike any other show i've ever seen for one, and secondly, when you consider that you're essentially only paying about £5:50 per BLU-RAY disc, (Amazon currently listing it as £112:88 for 20 discs) it really is a bargain.
i love the outer packaging of the American box set, that is until I started hearing the horror stories of how awful and impractical it was - not to mention I thought it was cool because i thought you could lift the box up and what we were seeing in the photos was an 'elevated' view - but it actually comes like that which is more than a little odd. So although the UK packaging isn't much to right home about. although I'll admit, it was nicer than I was expecting which was a bonus - the limited edition 'tins' feature a nice raised/embossed Cylon on the cover. (i'm presuming that by the new year this will be replaced with a simple box packaging) and the cases inside are
