one year recap

Not quite a year, but it's been a while since I posted here. Let's see...

I've been taking classes for a year now. I've got a 4.0 (across 3 classes... I'm not exactly moving quickly), and I finally did all of the work to apply for admission as a graduate student this past semester. I have a professor ready to be my advisor, a potential thesis ( Read more... )

Thanks! I know I don't comment much, but I've been reading your posts about the whole process very closely, and it's been very helpful (mostly: reassuring, that we can still be people and parents at the same time).

It takes a while to return to being people. It helps to have supportive extended family. If you want to take any trips or catch any shows or go out to eat some place snooty, do it now.

It's hard. There are weeks (like this week) where I spend most of my time either working or doing homework, sleep and pretty much everything else take a distant third at best.

I'll only find out if it was worth it in a year or two, when I find out if any new doors open to me...
