Today I've done a bit of cleaning and reorganizing of my home office... I hesitate to show pictures even now, but I've made some progress. I'm going to inherit my wife's 15" LCD as my own second monitor as I did the same thing with my wife's netbook in attaching it to our ALL-IN-ONE DVD/LCD combo television which she recently set up as her own workspace in the living room, which means I'll also get my desktop back.

I finally got rid of all my SPARC32 boxes two years ago - I couldn't keep them all, and needed a deliminator.

I did suggest to my boss though that I be allowed to bring in my Itanium server for use as the unix group's development system as we do not have our own lab. Waiting to see how that plays out as there's quite a bit of paperwork involved.

Looking forward to the pics when its time. I too was recently surprised at the price of 19-22" LCDs. I find I can no longer be effective with just one, even utilizing window manager workspaces. There's just too much to display anymore, though I am a huge fan of tabbed terminal windows ;)

Yeah, a dev environment is crucial :-)

And even though two new LCDs is a possibility, in the short term I'm just going to hunt for my spare 17" LCD's power supply and hook that up to my laptop.

Watch craigslist! I just picked up a nearly-new 25" LCD with three little stuck pixels way over on the right edge--perfectly tolerable for my purposes, and difficult to locate regardless--for a mere $50.
