car trouble

I've been saying, the last week or so, that I think it's time to buy a new car. misphit's Accord apparently agreed with me, and decided not to take her home from Opal Divine's last night. Some kind people out with (including quantum80 and algolgalaxia) tried to get it going again, but couldn't get the car into a position to jump start it - and weren't sure a jump start was ( Read more... )

Yep, part of the problem was that late at night and having been drinking and so on she couldn't get the 'insert key here to put the car in neutral' slot to work. Plus, this morning, we got someone to move their car so the Forester could sidle up nice and cozy to her car.

And next time, I hope to join you and your girl and Sam and Robin. :-)

I can vouch for the Civic, and Howdy Honda in particular. There is a sedan version.

Have you checked out the Mazda 3? I went through a similar car search for Mandy when her car went and ended up going that route in the end...

I hadn't looked at them, but my recollection was that Mazda had been going drastically down hill since Ford bought them. Looking at Consumer Reports, that seems to be less true, so... yeah. They're worth looking at. :-)

So, as I say in my next LJ post... I was kind of underwhelmed by the Mazda 3.

We have had two Outback wagons (upgraded after the first was paid off to get latch lock and other features) and Matt now has a WRX. We have been happy with Subaru and their reliability, though they do tend to come with a slightly higher price tag. One thing we love is the AWD. It does great on snow in Colorado and the extremely wet weather here this year. The streets here are rivers every time it rains. Poor drainage system, I guess.

Yeah, my current car is a Forester. (misphit wants to start driving it, which is why we're looking at a car for me to replace her car.)

I've really enjoyed the Forester, my primary regret being that it's an automatic. I'm also not thrilled that pretty much every Subaru has the same tiny back seat. I mean, the Civic has more legroom than the Forester, and that just doesn't seem right. The back seat isn't an enormous deal for me (by the time we get around to having kids and getting them big enough to need a bigger backseat, the car will be long gone), but it is enough to get me looking at other cars.

Matt's WRX does have a noticeably smaller back seats, but I've been happy with the room in the Outback, both the back seats and the cargo area. If you're ok with a wagon, you might look at that one.

And I went from a standard transmission on my first Outback to an automatic on my second. I was getting sick of stop and go travel to school, work, and back. But I only settled for the automatic because it also has the ability to manually shift when I want a different gear. It's nice flexibility without requiring me to shift and use a clutch *all* the time.

a lot of innovations started for subaru, and it was a great car for me...i had with it for almost three years and it is really efficient..i had car troubles but only minors..taking care of subaru was my primary concerns like checking the saturn fuel filters, checking for the wheel condition, to the engine, exhaust....for sure i had lots of maintenance done and it worth..
