Baby-Sitters Club Chain Letter part TWO! (WARNING! Image Heavy!)

Oct 04, 2008 16:49

Previously, Kristy was hospitalized with appendicitis. Karen scrawled a crayon-y "get well soon" card, Kristy got a letter from cousin Robin, and Kristy sent a letter to Stacey bitching about her dad.

Next, Claudia sends a postcard to Janine back home in Stoneybrook. Since Claudia is an "artiste," after all, I guess she made this postcard:

Ah, two classic BSC stupids in one book! "How are you and who are mom and dad?" is my personal favorite, but the whole blonde/redhead/blonde thing is up there. I'm pretty sure AMM never dyed her hair.

I bet Stacey secretly LOVED Jem but wouldn't admit to the other girls she watched it.

I always loved Stacey's handwriting. I ended up writing my S's like her for years simply because I thought she was so cool.

I think Stacey could afford it because her parents were rich. Probably left her with a nice little bit of money, since they were out for the day, like "Oh here, go out to lunch, but don't eat an M&M cause you'll die." kind of thing.

Though, I also question how her hair didn't fall straight out of her head.

That's true. She IS a sophisticated, urban New York native at the age of 12.

The fact that she shopped at Bloomingdale's at age 12 was always like "OMG!" to me. Considering that I'm almost 21 and I still can't afford to shop there, it's still kinda "OMG!"

Funny question... did you ever notice that in most of the pictures of her, she never actually looked like she had a perm?

I saw something on CNN a few days ago about how outraged some people in NYC were at a mother for letting her nine-year-old ride the subways by himself. The kid wanted to do it by himself, and that's the only way you're going to learn to be self-reliant, right?

And yeah, I never really thought Stacey had a perm either. Do women still get perms? (Besides little old ladies who get their weekly permanents?)

How in the hell did Claudia spell her own street name wrong???

I was just at Disneyland last weekend. If we'd spent the whole day in Fantasyland, I would've done something drastic.

Is "it's a small world" still down for refurbishments?

Yep, it's still down, but it looks further along than when I was there in July. They had the entire thing covered during the summer, but now the exterior is visible again... I'm not sure when they plan to reopen though.

Last I heard, it's supposed to reopen by the second week of November, probably in time for the holidays. (I keep up with MousePlanet.com)

Claudia's dyslexic? When does that come out?

In Ann's biography, the author said some BSC fans wrote in to Ann, asking if Claudia was dyslexic. Ann never came out and said that, but she said it would make sense, considering Claudia's spelling. And I think Ann's sister Jane was dyslexic too, so maybe she got the idea from there.

Ah, I see. That would make sense. Claudia and I are kinda alike as far as our academic things--i.e., having no interest in school and not getting why we have to learn stuff--so I always hoped she wasn't officially dyslexic, haha. Because then it would be OK if people were just naturally not scholarly. :) Lol.

She wrote a whole non-BSC book about a dyslexic girl, too... I read it, but I can't think of the name. Something like "Yours Turely, Shirley" or something.
