Yeah Mary Anne says that in the movie after Cokie rubs in her face that her and Logan are going to the Smashing Pumpkins together lol.

Of course Mallory gets pies thrown at her. It's symbolic of how life throws pies at her...

Fortunately, Marcie shows up and starts bragging about Logan's supposed cheating cheatery, so MA awesomely throws the pie at her.

If this was a later book, Mary Anne would run out of the room sobbing hysterically, despite putting the bitchy girl in her place.
