The Claudia thing always made me sad. It's teachers like that who make kids not want to try at all. A+ for the Boy Meets World reference. She would have done awesome with them and Cory and Shawn would have taken them under their wing and have her become BFF with Topanga.

The letter Jessi wrote is adorable. I actually do this for my goddaughter and will do it with all my other nieces and nephews. She has a letter for every milestone--when I found out her mom was pregnant, the gender reveal, the shower, when she was born, all her firsts and her monthly 'birthdays.' I plan to add to it as she grows up. I even made her a hope chest to put everything in.

I think gym was an elective in middle school, so it wasn’t a required class. Gym was required in high school and we had it every day.--I had to take gym every year in middle school. Thankfully I only had to take it my 9th grade year in high school. For somebody that hates gym, I was so happy about that ( ... )

OK serious question: WHY do either one of Claudia's teachers even teach if they're such bitter old hags? Yelling at 6 year olds just because you can spells NEEDS A CAREER CHANGE. Like, yesterday. Also, someone needs to tell Ms. Packett that if a 6 year old hears "self portrait" and spends 2 hours drawing and coloring a very detailed butterfly, they shouldn't be yelled at, they ought to be applauded because THAT KID SHOWS TALENT AND A TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF ART. Geez.

Also, this chapter made me love Mimi so much. How she told this art teacher that she was FOS and wouldn't know talent if it bit her scrotum just rocked so, so hard, and how she managed to be composed, calm, and sweet about it just makes me love her so.

Maybe they hated kids and became teachers so they could yell at them? Maybe they met a kid like Karen and hated all kids since then? Maybe they've been teaching too long and it's really hard to find another job? In all honesty, I've wondered about this myself.

Good point about Karen...if I had her in a class, I'd resign immediately :D

I know burn out happens and it happens to most people at one time or another, but nothing chaps my ass quicker than someone who works with children or the elderly that get snitty and bitter and take it out on them. Why on earth would you WANT to work with children or the elderly if you hated them so much, or if everything they did managed to piss you off? Take time off, go on vacation, do something to get away. (And if someone says "I can't afford to take time off", that's all well and good but what's going to happen if and when someone catches you being a completely horrible asshole to said child or elderly person and you get fired? Can't afford that either.)

Sorry, that always just gets my hackles up ;D

Yeah, I had a kindergarten teacher...well, exactly like that. I suspect it's not a 100% coincidence that my parents took me out of school (and my brother out of nursery school, but it's not like that matters) for a three-plus week trip to Australia and New Zealand that year, as, while I would get in trouble for disobeying and mouthing off because she was still a teacher, Mom said later "She should not have been teaching kindergartners." (Apparently she eventually got moved to 5th grade and was a lot less of a crank.) During that vacation I had an assignment I STILL remember--it involved a picture of a person with an umbrella. Mrs Bitch must not have given my mother very clear directions about what the assignment was supposed to be as we ended up coloring it and putting it on a big sheet with raindrops around it. Apparently I was supposed to use the eight colors in the box to color the umbrella segments or something. So of course mine looked completely different and I still remember her holding it up and saying how since I ( ... )

Kristy would have found some way to complain because Claudia getting academic help would cut into BSC time.=Well in the show, I remember Claudia being freaked about having a tutor because it would cut into her BSC time ( ... )

Maybe she needs to receive additional tutoring when she’s in school.
Don’t they have tutoring programs or something along those lines at SMS?

They should and if not teachers often offer to help their students
after class.

But this teacher is a fucking bitch and an idiot. You give an assignment.
You brush off the students when they try to ask you for instructions. Therefore, what happens with Claudia is your fault. You didn’t clarify the assignment. You basically ignored the kids trying to make sure they understood the assignment.

This yes! I hope she got fired.

Maybe they’re trying not to jinx this. Maybe they think if they buy a crib
or furniture, Squirt will die

I've wondered about that. I've known people who were too afraid to buy
anything because they were worried it would jinx something.
