She’s complaining that Mary Anne wants to dress nicely for her sitting job. --I'm torn. I get wanting to look nice instead of wearing something with holes in it, something dirty. But I definitely wouldn't want to wear something too nice in case I get it dirty at the job, etc. But at the same time, how does all of this impact Dawn's life? Let Mary Anne wear what she wants to wear ( ... )

Thank you!

You know, I didn't really see the parallels between Kristy and Logan, but now that you've pointed it out, it's totally true. They're both controlling bullies. Mary Anne is screwed no matter who she hangs out with.

And I guess Claudia is more messy than I remembered. Considering she hides junk food all over her room, I shouldn't have been that surprised.

"-Unfortunately Claudia has a habit of being a mess. Didn't she send Dawn a letter with a chocolate stain on it one time?"

I like to think that was Claudia's way of being extremely passive-aggressive, as if Dawn will open the note and get dried, smeared sugar all over her precious fingers :D Somehow I don't think that's what the author had in mind, but I give exactly zero fucks. I'd pay money to see Dawn lose her shit over opening an envelope that contained a smeared chocolate-y letter. She'd probably flip out like it was anthrax.

"I just finished reading Dawn's trilogy in the California Diaries series, and all throughout it I kept thinking "thank you for turning Dawn into a human being ( ... )

"So Dawn actually turns (somewhat) likable in the California Diaries? I'm going to have to check out those books because I'm having a hard time picturing her as anything but a shrieking nutcase. Maybe the weird Stoneybrook vortex caused it."

Yes, at least I think so! She still is kind of opinionated, but (to me) it's much more of a "this is who I am and this is the way it is" attitude, rather than "this is who I am and you suck no matter what." She seems a lot more level headed and self-sure than the BSC Dawn.

"Your pre-husband relationship sounds awful! I'm sorry you had to go through all that, but I'm glad you were able to get out. On a happier note, I'm sure your husband is an awesome guy!"

Thanks, he is!! Sometimes I think bad experiences (aside from truly traumatic shit, of course) can really make us into better people.

BTW I love your user name, it just makes me smile for some reason!

Thank you. I'm a big lover of pizza :)

And I definitely agree that bad experiences can make us better people. I'm a lot kinder to other people and have a much more positive outlook than when I was younger. Life has a funny way of doing these things.

Logan is being a huge tool, no question, but I feel like they just wrote him like this for this one book. He always seemed so bland and personality-less to me. But damn, he's a dick in this.

I admit, I go crazy not knowing the sex of my friends' babies when they decide not to find out (or just waiting until THEY find out - usually they tell me before they announce it to everyone else because they know I'm going crazy waiting; ditto name announcements, and pregnancy announcements for that matter) because I'm Michelle Duggar levels of baby rabid, but JFC Dawn, chill out. You won't die if you don't find out what's coming out of Mrs. P until it gets here.

This book really tainted my view of Logan. His jerkiness was completely overboard.

Like you, I generally like to know all the baby details. I was going crazy each time my sister was pregnant - luckily she found out the sexes as soon as possible. But if she chose not to, I wouldn't have gone all Dawn on her. Dawn ruins everything!

"This book really tainted my view of Logan. His jerkiness was completely overboard."

I'll admit, I usually skim over Logan's character traits, so I'm asking all the BSC experts out there if this is typical for him, of if this is a case of "let's skew the character to fit the plot". I don't really remember him being quite this big of a dicksmack before. But then again, he called MA in another book because he was worried she wasn't feeding an egg enough. Oh, Logan. Don't you ever change, my dear.

I think he definitely showed some jerky tendencies, but they were exaggerated for this book. He was insensitive at times, like when Mary Anne lost her cat. He did get frustrated with her shyness and he could be overbearing (like with the aformentioned egg). But I think this book colored him as an jackass for me and I couldn't shake it for the rest of the series.

He's still a better friend than the BSC - at least he didn't totally ditch Mary Anne when she got her haircut.

Welcome to the Cool Kids Club! LOL!

Seriously, welcome!Love the name, BTW!

Congrats, Olivia. Let’s dedicate a depressing book to you. Welcome to the world!=LOL!

This is a great positive message for the pre-teen girls reading this book - if your boyfriend is hot, it doesn’t matter how he treats you. Because he’s hot. Thanks for that life lesson, Ann.-Because that's so important to a young girl! Good lord, Ann was high as hell! I partly blame her for girls hanging with abusive dickwads!

-Love the Cult members descriptions!

Great job so far and again, welcome!
