Admittedly, I always feel super awkward tipping bellhops, or really anything when I can’t just casually add to the total or leave it on the table. For me, this depends. If I request help, sure. But if I don't request it and the bellhop takes my shit and does it and I know he's not going to give it back until I'm at my room, then no. If you give me an optional service I don't want, screw you. I used to work in a hotel. Bellhops get paid decently, and tip are icing on the cake. Their jobs aren't considered to be tipped positions. Neither are housekeepers. Housekeepers got 1.5x regular minimum wage, and bellhops for 2x ( ... )

I like this chapter. For once the parents are admitting needing help because they're doing something wrong, and for once it's not a perfect or cutesy job, and the sitter knows on some level things aren't going very well.
And I’m not exactly sure why this would make her particularly excited and "curious" to see Pearl Harbor, in the sense that she seems to think of this outing as fun. Immaturity and enough removal from what happened ( ... )
