Also, it would be more thematically amusing if they were seeing Much Ado About Nothing
YES!

I give Abby a point for her creative manipulation of syntax to make her poem scan.
"What did you there?" is from an actual nursery rhyme. Bet it's not said much anymore...

Abby asks him what one says when one meets the Queen, and he says he’s never had the pleasure, but it probably doesn’t matter to much as long as you “keep it clean.”
Which reminds me of one of Britain's greatest cinematic classics. <3

My baby has a book of "Kitten Rhymes" with that poem in it. It's actually the only one in the book that uses pussycat instead of just pussy. He doesn't understand why we all crack up when we read to him, because we are mature adults in this house.

(Yeah, that’s great advice for people with actual jobs and commitments and money issues. Or, for that matter, kids reading this book who might be depressed, since normal children don’t really get to plan their own major vacations.)

But these are rich white kids from Connecticut! Plus the fact that Ann's knowledge of the world comes from old ass movies where people went on vacations for months on end for their health means that, yes, this is perfectly doable. Why, I wish I could treat my own depression with 3 months in Egypt or France or England but I don't have 40 gazillion gold doubloons to pay for it.

She says she feels ridiculous, but I don’t think Ann and Peter do, and they should.

I think Peter does. I just have this feeling that his goal toward the end was to just troll Ann as often as possible.

But I’m even more irritated with Ms. Schwarz, who says “I’m sorry, I thought you understood. It’s a hug machine, Dawn.” Just. . .why would she know that? You didn’t fucking explain it at all.Actually, if I were in charge of a ( ... )

She’s accompanied by a guy Abby recognizes as “Prince Something,” who has been on the news, and this is weird, because the British Royal Family are real people, and there’s not that many of them. We eventually see an illustration of this guy and lol, even Prince William NEVER looked like that, even before the hairline started receding, and anyone else who might be styled a prince is way too old. I mean, I don’t find it offensive the way I do the Shakespeare stuff, probably because I more or less lose interest in the Royal Family after the Tudors, but I find it creates some cognitive dissonance.

Prince Edward (Wessex)? He's youngest and looks it, especially 15 years ago when this was written.... Artist was trying for a weird plausible-deniability scenario and drew a generic "Prince"? Visiting prince? Let one of the Kent cousins come hang out? Or, more likely, artist sucks?

You know the Mal-Shakespeare thing could have made sense if they just made him her umpteenth cousin ten times removed or something....

Or the descendant of Anne Hathaway's sibling or something like that. There are options to let her technically be related.

Soho is kind of artsy and has lots of shops, but unless it's changed a lot since I lived there it's also, like, a gay cultural center and full of sex shops and clubs.

Sometimes I wonder if Ann understands how research works.

Also, I want to strangle Stacy. Some kind of bomb shelter? A lot of the air raid shelter tours are incredibly emotional, with recordings of speeches and footage of raids and how does she not even know where she is oh my god this trip is wasted on these kids.

When I was 14, everyone in year 9 in my school had to volunteer one afternoon a week in either a preschool, nursing home, or special development school. I was placed in a special development school, and not given much of an introduction - my partner and I were dropped off and ended up wandering around the school for ten minutes trying to figure out where we were meant to go, until I happened to bump into a family friend who worked there.

I still like to think I was better with the kids than any of the BSC members.
