Karen's Toothache (Chapters 1-6)

MORE SNARK FOR THE MASSES.

Let's get one this straight: I am terrified of dentists. Ever since I read this one person's dental experience on TV Tropes, I have been avoiding the dentist like the plague and getting a cavity would be the equivalent of being sent to hell to me. That being said, I STILL think Karen made way too much of a big deal over ( Read more... )

Love this.... I think it's funny how mean Karen is to Pamela, when in most of the books she does nothing to Karen, is often somewhat interested in what Karen does and is really only mean to her after Karen does something ridiculous.

I love how Karen just decides to become a fortune teller, as though its something you can just "do" and then decides to give good fortunes to people she likes.. if only life worked like that, haha

Professor Trelawny has more credibility than Karen does.

Which makes me wonder... if Karen read HP, would Mrs. Porter go from an evil witch to Harry's long lost father's brother's cousin's uncle's best friend's former girlfriend?

In Karen's defense, I will say that dental surgery sucks, having had it several times myself. But it's easy - just ask for something that knocks you out cold and problem solved.

Excellent snarking.

If Karen read HP, she'd be waiting desperately for her Hogwarts letter and probably spamming the post office with mail to Hogwarts asking why it hasn't come yet.

Little Sister #394: Karen's Hogwarts Letter is begging to be written. I could so see David Michael writing her a Hogwarts letter as a practical joke. Maybe she'd beg Mrs. Porter to teach her Defense Against the Dark Arts and pester Watson into buying her an owl. Poor Andrew would be ripped on for being a "squib". The possibilities!

I am laughing so hard right now, because I could totally see all of that happening. I mean, Karen already thinks she's amazing, so she would definitely have no problems thinking she had magical ablities. God help the Brewer-Thomas-Engle clan!

Yay! A new Star Ultranova snark! XD

I like how Watson's idea of "taking care of" Karen's toothache is telling her to tell Lisa when she gets home. Father of the year material with that one. >.<

Does Watson know that phones exist? Seriously, you see your kid four days a month and you can't be bothered to make a lousy five minute phone call when your kid is in PAIN? See, this is why I think Karen is the way she is...her parents are totally incompetent. >.<

I thought at the end of Karen's Birthday they promised to stay in contact with eachother when Karen is in need now. SO MUCH FOR THAT. D:

(I do believe in mediums and I do not think ALL of them are crackpots, but the ones who make TV appearances out of them or make any money off being a medium alone most likely are)Agreed. I've met exactly one psychic in any aspect of the field who I would recommend to someone looking to spend money. And that's mostly because I got to know her on a personal level, we were in a practice community together, etc. Though I DO dig that Long Island Medium lady. She's just fucking amusing. (And apparently she had a great career prior to the show and tended to be booked a year in advance...so I'm assuming people were at the very least pleased with her work. Basically, if she's purely a bullshit artist, she's a damn good one ( ... )

Later in the book Karen's dentist is fucking AWESOME and the place...including the dentists' chair and the doctors' uniforms...are entirely space-themed. Karen gets to sit in a ROCKETSHIP and her doctor is wearing a spacesuit, and the entire place is decorated with some zeerust space-age theme.

FFS why do kids only get to have awesome doctors' offices like that. D:

You know, I actually sort of like going to the dentist. My teeth are about the only thing in/on my body that were immune to shitty genetics so I get good reports 99% of the time and I like how smooth my teeth are after they clean 'em. Essentially my dentist is the only doctor I have who tells me I'm doing perfect (take that stupid general physician and eye doctor). Though I do hate the scraping and flossing they do because ow.

I sort of understand Watson's, "Tell your mom" this time. Not all dentists are open on Saturdays so there was probably not very much he could do right then. He could have told Lisa when she came to pick the kids up, but, you know they hate each other so there's that.
