Oct 08, 2011 21:47

I had some time on my hands tonight, and I had noticed that the Unrecapped Books and Half Snark List hadn't been updated for quite a while. So I decided to go through and update them (they're seperated into sections to make it easier to find them). I actually checked every book on the tags list to see whether or not it had been completed, and I'll ( Read more... )

I've never heard of them before, either, but they do exist. This page was really the only information I could find on them. I have five, I think... The ones about Claudia, Dawn, Mallory, Jessi and Mary Anne. I haven't got Kristy's or Stacey's.

You'd have to check your local thrift stores. I managed to find "Stacey's Big Break" "Mary Anne and the Brunettes" and some random mystery one with Claudia.

I'll get on Shannon's Story eventually, I hope. (After work stops trying to kill me, anyways.)

Also, I own the postcard book, but I lack the ability to transfer the images from in front of me to on my computer right now. Maybe one day... (cue wistful, Mary Anne-esque sigh)

I have Shannon's Story.

I'm just feeling intimidated about snarking though...my powers don't compare to the rest of you guys.

Everyone has to start somewhere, you know. I spent about three months reading snarks here before I did my first one. I didn't know if I would suck, but I knew if I did I'd never get better by NOT snarking. Something to think about.

This is true. I got Karen's Worst Day recently. I'll see what I can make of it as soon as I can.

Man, there are a lot of mysteries that haven't been touched yet. I was always more into those than the main series; maybe I should try my hand at snarking one. But then I'd have to actually... buy the books again...

(California Diaries also looks to be an untapped vein, but I don't think I'd be capable of snarking those. It would just turn into a constant refrain of "Thirteen-year-olds! Thirteen-year-olds!" with possible occasional interludes of "man, I don't know why they don't just flat-out admit that Ducky's gay," because, I mean, really.

Seriously, if they wanted to do a series that (a) is set in a high school and (b) deals with more mature themes than other BSC books, would it not have made more sense to age the protagonists up a couple of years than to go "for some reason the eighth grade is now part of the high school!"?)

I'm not sure why there are so many un-snarked mysteries... they're as bad, if not worse, than the regular series IMHO.

I read the first CD and man, I dunno if I even want to go on. The teenage drama and angst in the first one annoyed me already.

seriously. when i explained the plot of "mary anne & the zoo mystery" to my boyfriend (including the very tricky way the babysitters capture their suspect in the end), he was like, "wait...seriously? SERIOUSLY? WHY ARE YOU READING THESE?...wait, scratch that. why isn't EVERYONE reading these?!"

OMG, BSC mini books actually EXIST? I saw them once but figured I must be remembering wrong because I have NEVER seen them again and let's face it, with 100+ books, I always figured I must have seen books in the series I just wasn't familiar with and not ~special~ books that didn't exist as part of the series.

Yes, apparently. When I first found the names, I was like WTF are these? It took me a while to catch on to the whole "mini book" thing.
