The Baby-sitter's club series to be reissued

May 17, 2010 22:28

My local paper ran this today to hype the upcoming prequel, the reissuing of the series, and Ann M. Martin's claim to fame.
Seriously, THREE YEARS to write Kristy's Great Idea? But...but I always thought it was presented to Ann on stone tablets from a burning bush! How dissapointing.
Anyway, here's the link...

I really don't like how boring these covers are :/ I liked the paintings. Especially the one on Kristy's Worst Idea, I think it was, where they were all fighting.

Thanks for the article. I didn't know they started out extending the books just two at a time after the first four were hits.

I also get the giggles that people are always so surprised for how much people love stuff from their childhood.

But mostly I'm wondering how I just now noticed that Kristy got the pink bracelet.

Sorry, this is totally unrelated to your post, but OMG ICON. Lila Fowler is SUCH a bitch and she totally did not deserve that horse. Why the hell she and Jessica are best friends when all they do is be total dogs to each other is beyond me. Anyway...

That's OK. Glad you noticed my icon. Lila is pretty revered over at 1Bruce1 LiveJournal community which is how I found this one. The snark over there is just as awesome so go check it out if you haven't already.

So, do you reckon Lila is foul-er than Jessica?

Above all, uniformity was key. "We kept the number of ghostwriters small because we wanted to maintain a consistent voice for the series"..."I wanted to work with a small group of writers who were as familiar with the characters as I was."

LOLOLOL

"The characters are truly people that readers can aspire to be. They're your next-door neighbors, they're your classmates."

ROFLMAO.

...[T]hemes of friendship and family...are presented in the books...

BRB DYING OF LAUGHTER.

Also, am I the only person who saw Claudia's bracelet and thought 'Why isn't it spelt Caludia'?

Sidenote: While these things may have been present in the earlier books, they definitely weren't in the later ones. >:(
