Jessi's Wish Part 1

I know what you’re thinking: how can she snark the story about cancer? Well, the story delves more into the ‘littlest cancer patient’ style than actual ‘cancer! oh noes!’. Thank God, otherwise I'd feel completely heartless as opposed to just slightly heartless

So, let's dig in to this Very Special Episode, Jessi's Wish
Chapters 1-5 )

#48 jessi's wish, jessi

Danielle does turn up in two other books. One where she's a brat because her parents let her get away with murder because she has cancer (and can I say, I knew parents like this growing up - except their kid had diabetes, not cancer - and it's my biggest pet peeve EVER because both of their children were insufferable because of it.) and one where she plays Mallory in her stupid play.

Interesting that in this one they actually have the hospital ridden kids with serious illnesses, whereas when they do another hospital volunteering subplot later in the series, the kids' pen pals have broken bones and minor surgical recoveries.

WHY would a small town have a diabetes center? Oh, and isn't this the book where Kristy is all bitchy about parents leaving their kids in day care? Because it's so different than leaving your kids with a baby-sitter, seriously.

Not only why does Stoneybrook have such a thing, but why haven't we heard about it sooner?

Also, is it named after Wilford Brimley?

And why didn't Stacey go there in books 3 and 43?! Sigh.

psychically disabled kids

Do you mean physically disabled? But I like "psychically disabled" better.

At least with Kristy and Dawn they should have to fill out paperwork saying something like ‘I won’t hurt the kids’ or something like that. Probably a background check will be required also.

I've worked at a couple of day care centres, and I was required to get a background check for each and sign a confidentiality statement, among tons of other paperwork. I can just imagine Kristy charging into a day care and demanding that they let her volunteer. ("But I'm the PRESIDENT of the BSC!")

I hate how Kristy gets all judgemental about people who put kids in day care, but I'll wait until you get to that part. :)

I love how in this book they always mention how skinny Danielle is, but on the cover, Becca looks a lot skinnier.

All the gifs you used in this snark were priceless.
