it sounds like you have had an intense few weeks! I'm so glad the wedding went well! and the lunch thing is AMAZING. AMAZING. "Lunch in a Dangerous Time." "All you need is lunch." "lunch is a many splendored thing." YES.
The side bun is super easy! (Especially if you get some of those bobby pins that are corkscrew shaped--those are AWESOME, as it turns out.) I bet it would look fabulous on you.

They still have the other place! The island place is their retirement home, though I guess they are considering moving out there sooner. It is REALLY beautiful, though it would extend their commute considerably.

I LOVE those Cecilia Grant books. I haven't read the third one yet, but the first two were fantastic. If you're looking for romance novels in a similar vein (smart, beautifully written), I highly recommend Courtney Milan. Her Turner series (Unveiled, Unclaimed, Unraveled) is TO. DIE. FOR. Until last year or so I was also the read-a-billion-Nora-Roberts books kind of romance reader, but Milan's books made me a diehard fan of the genre.
(I was going to be like "my twitter friend Sonia likes those books too!" but...that is your friend Sonia! So it would be redundant.)
The third one is SO GOOD--it is a pairing type that I have a well-documented weakness for, and it does pay off some stuff from the first two books that I didn't even realize I wanted paid off. Plus it has more well-rounded secondary characters than the first two books did, and I loved that, too.
And thank you for the rec--I have heard of Courtney Milan but have never read any of her stuff. I will definitely check those out!
