Did you see the talk of a Headstone DOCUMENTARY, over in the pledge music comments? So, DVD + documentary + album + tour. And ALL the social media. They are all so ADORABLE about it, and now I really want Frank and Hugh to be really enthusiastic and foul-mouthed BFFs.
I was having this odd moment the other day where I was listening to the full Headstones discography in order (like one does), and I hit Smile and Wave, which is the one album I never broke all the way in years ago, because it seemed to LOUD at the time, and going back to it NOW, it was suddenly PERFECT.
AND ALSO THERE ARE NEW MCR SONGS. And there will be even more new MCR songs, in less than 3 weeks. And the songs! They are awesome! I love every second of both of them, but the bridge-into-guitar solo in "Tomorrow's Money" is one of my favorite things they've ever done: that breathy catch in his voice, and the build up to that full scream and Ray's solo EXPLODING out of it. Basically, that entire band should CALL ME.
Headstones documentary! DVD! Album! Tour! ALL THE SOCIAL MEDIA. It's the BEST THING EVER. And I would loooooove to facilitate the inevitable Frank/Hugh friendship, OMG.
And oooooh, I love when music that never clicked with you before just suddenly slots into place! That's such a fantastic feeling. (That happened to me with U2's Achtung Baby.) Smile and Wave was the first album I got and therefore the first one I fell in love with; it's got the edge of the earlier albums but slightly more polished, which is cool. (It IS loud, though. But you know I like loud. Hee.) Plus the video for Smile and Wave is hands-down my favorite Headstones video; they are all SO ADORABLE and hot and talented in it.
NEW MCR SOOOOOOONGS. that breathy catch in his voice, and the build up to that full scream and Ray's solo EXPLODING out of it. Basically, that entire band should CALL ME. YES YES YES YES YES, THAT.
capslocking RAY at each other with more and more As
HEE, yes! I LOVE THAT.
there's something unbelieveably hot about the "black, tight, just my size" lyric
RIGHT? GUH. That's what I mean about the sly verbal sneer, just the WAY he says that, and all that's behind it, too, the gender performativity stuff and Gerard's sincere dedication to fashion and the snark in it, too, laughing a little at himself and a lot at whoever the song's directed to. LOVE.

I love reading your thoughts on music. You're so good at articulating something so ephemeral.

And thank you! It's fun to try to articulate it, at least.

I'm so anxious about the election. I don't know if I want the time to pass faster or slower. Eeep.
