I have also never seen a frontman work so hard to give as many people in the crowd as possible some kind of direct contact/experience, whether by eye contact or gesture or high-five or shouting at them or whatever.
GOD I LOVE HIM. I love that he loves performing, and that he really fucking CARES about his fans, and LOVES that they all know his words, and I cannot even IMAGINE the vibe in the room, how JOYOUS it must have been omg.

I cannot even IMAGINE the vibe in the room, how JOYOUS it must have been omg.
It REALLY WAS. Like, I have encountered some overinvested-and-not-in-the-good-way Headstones fans online, but I have had SUCH good experiences at their shows--everyone is just so TRANSPARENTLY THRILLED to be there, without a shred of irony. Right down to the band t-shirts. It's GREAT. And that all starts with Hugh, of course!
