But because I've been talking about it with my coworkers... that NPR top sci-fi books meme that everyone is doing: strong the ones you've read, emphasis the ones you intend to read, underline series/books you've read part of, and strike the ones you never intend to read.

Be warned: I have some giant holes in my sci-fi education )

books, memeage

I read one of these, I think? Clearly, from sansets' reaction, I need to read more. *g*

*laughs* I have NO IDEA if they stand the test of time for someone who wasn't having her First Big Sci-Fi Renaissance with Star Wars, but GOD were those books important to me in middle/high school. And seriously, Mara Jade was just my ideal woman in so many ways for so many years. ♥

(ALSO I WANT YOUR THOUGHTS ON SANDMAN WHEN YOU'RE DONE. FEEEEEEEEELINGS. Ugh, I may be due for another reread.)

I wonder what you'll think of The Time Traveler's Wife. I have a less than favorable opinion, to put it mildly.

On the other hand, I used to adore The Hithchiker's Guide. It has subjective appeal, though, in my experience. Some people whose taste I respect don't care for that humor.

Definitely putting a vote in for Sunshine. It's gorgeous and scary and sensual, in a way Twilight couldn't even dream of attempting. (Hero and the Crown was my go-to comfort reading for so, so many years. Such an amazing book, and one of the best heroines I've ever identified with far too strongly.)
