catwalksalone just drew my attention to this, via the flashpoint_tv twitter: My friend Hugh keeps busy during hiatus. Headstones to reunite for concert in February!
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.
I'd read an interview with Hugh a month or two ago where he mentioned the possibility of reuniting with "[his] old band" (I assumed he meant the Headstones, because it seems that the HDRC has been retconned out of existence), but I kind of assumed he was either BSing (in an affable, I-love-everyone Hugh kind of way) or meant sometime waaaaay in the future. So: WHAAAAAAAT.
On one hand: OMFG HEADSTONES REUNION. Also, this would save me worrying about Trent! (Probably, unless whatever he's up to now is even more worrisome than his complete disappearance from the face of the internets. But I kinda doubt it.) And about Hugh and Trent and their sad tragic breakup! Also: OMFG HEADSTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONES.
On the other hand: I literally cannot picture what this would be like. Like--as I may have mentioned once or twice--I'm completely thrilled that Hugh's life seems to be a hell of a lot happier and healthier now than it was when he was with the Headstones. But that music really seemed to be rooted in that time and place in his life, and... I can't picture him singing those songs now, you know? I mean, he's still the same guy, but he's also kind of not, and... Wow. I just can't picture that.
On the other other hand: Given the vagaries of Hugh's schedule, I will believe it when I see it. (Also, I think my chances of getting to see this hypothetical reunion would be basically nil, since even aside from money and vacation time considerations, I would suspect they'd pack the hell out of whatever [Toronto, I assume] venue they choose. But I would TRY, at least.) (ETA2: Wait, who am I kidding? I don't really NEED two kidneys, right?)
