This very meme, gacked most recently from meresyThe Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well, let's see
( Read more... )
... you read all of The Count of Monte Cristo AND Les Mis?! You are a brave soul my friend!
(And you know what the sad thing is? 16 years of Catholic schooling under my belt and I honestly can't say that I've actually read more than 1/3 of the Bible. If you factor in the 18 years of my life that I actually was Catholic, and thus attending church on a regular basis, it might go up to half because of the readings, but Leviticus! It is deadly! You have my eternal admiration for managing to wade through that piece of shit.)
ETA: *facepalm* And this is why commenting before the allergy medicine kicks in is not a good idea. Leviticus is a piece of shit, not the whole Bible! I still have a great love for Song of Songs! And the Book of Tobit! Seriously God, don't smite me!
Hee. I actually liked The Count of Monte Cristo! And of course I had to read Les Mis, because, like all aspiring theatre majors, I loved the musical. *g*
God, don't smite me!
HEEE. *huddles over you protectively* I don't remember huge chunks of the Bible, honestly. But I know I did read the whole thing, mostly as a result of various school assignments. Good times!
I have learned to live with the Middlemarch situation. But can we talk for a moment about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? That book is magnificent, and much more adult than it should be.
What's weird is that I have read a TON of Roald Dahl books--we used to read those as a family all the time when I was a kid. And yet I've never read that one. I will add it to the list!
i highly recommend that you put 'the time traveler's wife', 'a suitable boy' and 'the shadow of the wind' into your "plan to read" pile. i think you'll LIKE THEM. *lures* and then we can TALK about them. *makes puppy dog eyes*
Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy -- Though technically, I read this when I was way too young to read it, so I know I missed a LOT. Still, I read it, so I'm counting it. ;)
I did the same but with Crime and Punishment ...and I have no intention of going back to see what I missed. Hoo boy.

HI! *flings self at you and squishes you tightly* Are your ears burning? I was JUST talking to Mr. McK about how you are probably not speaking to me because it has been months since we talked, and I suck. We should rectify that! (The not-talking, I mean. I fear the sucking is chronic.)
And thank you for the article link! Poor Keats. Hopefully he is laughing in the afterlife.
