Fiance. Beer. Happy hour sushi. Bookstore. Happy Sara.

Our marriage prep class was canceled at the last minute yesterday, so Tony and I went on a nice, impromptu date. Oh goodness.

If I learned anything in my publishing class in library school it is that publishers take a trend and run with it. For example, just count the amount of books marketed to young adult women that feature partial bodies (meaning that the head is cut off, or you only see a torso, no legs or head, or something similar). One successful book did it and the trend continued.

I noticed the new book covers one of the last times I was at Barnes and Noble, but I didn't make the Twilight connection until now. I want to shoot myself. The majority of the Twilight fans that I know (ie, teenage girls, and the occasional teenage boy) would not stick with Jane Austin, unless they were watching the Colin Firth version on video where he comes out of the pond.

The name of that bar means "Drink!" in Japanese. I like it.

Also, I'm kind of incensed at the Twilightifying of those novels. Twilight was fine in the way that lots of things I like are fine...you know, in that way like "Robin enjoys things that only 14-year old girls or 18-year old boys like?" But Pride and Prejudice was amazing.

Twilight and its sequels were entertaining. Not AMAZING. It's so sad that they have to market to idiots who never read a book before Twilight and are only now discovering the classics.
