My brother and dad visited this past week. It was really great to see them, and it was my brother's 18th birthday so I was really glad to spend time with him at such a minor point in his life that to him means so much. I shouldn't downplay it and call it minor, but really I am very excited for his future prospects of college and hopefully beyond ( Read more... )

You forgot roads, highways, libraries and parks. Head Start (government funded I believe), not to mention some federal grants for PBS, NPR and the NEA(which still gets flack for "piss christ", and that was twenty years ago).

Yeah, I didn't forget them, I just chose my favorites. Really, one could think of even municipalities as "socialized." How many of our houses are tapped directly into the water table...probably like none. Oh well.
