St. Patrick's Day

Most people don't know, but St. Patty's Day is typically only a holiday for the Irish Catholics amongst us. We Protestants are symbolized by the orange part of the Irish flag. I actually had a teacher in middle school that would give bonus points to kids who wore green on St. Patrick's day, and threatened to take points away from anyone who wore orange.

Part of my ancestry is Scots-Irish, but I'm not particularly proud of how or why my family made the move to the Emerald Isle: as a tool of the British to Anglicize the population. Of course, that was several centuries ago, so I'm not to worried about it. Also, as you know, I'm mostly German.

But you're right; let's wear the white and raise a glass of the water of life to peace.
