Good call... Diamond Age is another good one by Stephenson. I also really like Cryptonomicon, but my copy was never returned... let a friend borrow it after I read it the first time. It is actually because of that book that I am now hesitant to let people borrow my books.

Fun book, I liked it. Although the guy who recommended it to me said it was as good as Neuromancer, and I can't go that far.

oh, and honestly I thought Diamond Age was much better. Snow Crash is a good book, but Diamond Age just has a more serious tone IMHO.

However, Hiro Protagonist is by far one of the coolest... erm... protagonists ever written. That line is sound evidence of this.

Yeah I saw the quote in an article about scifi movies that should've been. It's always been my favorite quote from that book. Hopefully some day they'll actually make it in to a movie... it would be incredibly bad ass. I'd love to see a big screen potrayal of the metaverse.
