Believe me, I know how you feel-- someone who I went to grade school/middle school with recently saw a picture of me and said "*That's* Erica? Damn, she ain't half so ugly as she used to be." It's like... is that supposed to be a compliment?

But in reality, its a good thing that there is such a thing as the Ugly Duckling Syndrome. It promotes development of well rounded personality/intelligence/quirks/ETC.
