I'm wrestling with the idea of engaging in any pride activities. mostly because when I explain that I'm straight, but poly, I don't even get the nod of "he's just a supportive person" I tend to get the "Ew, you're just a swinger, you don't belong here" vibe. Dunno what it is.
You could just present yourself as a straight ally. Poly doesn't have to come into it at all. Also, if your wife is bi you are technically there supporting her.
As I'm bi, and my best friend in the whole world is a gay man, I feel compelled to get involved. Especially in a semi close minded area like central PA.
It's a shame that even some GBLT people can't accept that poly is just as normal, historic, and ok as being GLBT. Throwing stones doesn't help ANYONE, well, except the conservative asses!
I can dig that. that's what I mean though, like, I'm a supporter of the cause, but I tell people when they ask regarding my sexual orientation (which I consider to be Poly straight.) and I don't say much beyond that. (I don't preach, or even try to explain more than people want to hear) so I get confused when I get these comments and looks and this general feeling of "you don't belong here" which just..I dunno. keeps me away from supporting some of these people. mostly because I'm like "F--- them for attempting to judge me without knowing me, when they're protesting being judged without people knowing them!"
I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong for the way I feel, but part of me really doesn't want to support some of the GLBT types around here.
Inasmuch as I'd love to finally get involved, my painful feet prohibit me from doing much walking at all. So, no. I won't be there. :-(
the Faerie Princess has a rainbow tutu for the event!
This reminds me of my shower where the guests got to decorate onesies with fabric markers. I considered, out loud, drawing a pink & blue triangle on mine, but everyone nixed the idea saying babies aren't bi. Feh!
