You have made a very interesting picture here with what you've writ. You showed Buffy with her precious little Buffy fantasies and you've showed Buffy acknowledging how it would have really been. Nice, cos her sweet imagination isn't nearly as hip as what she identifies would be Spike's true reaction. Very lovely bit.

Really, Buffy's dreams are her re-writing their history. They were both left damaged, who wouldn't want the balm of a happier life in their dreams?

Thank you. Buffy seeking comfort is always hard. I can't imagine who she'd turn to about losing Spike.

Thank you. There's a wealth of possibilities in this universe.

I changed the last line of the third paragraph into a stand alone. I think it makes Buffy feel more self aware and gives the comfort of the last sentence a bit more weight. Buffy is nearly always portrayed (in fanfic) as being in denial about Spike, but I don't think that's the case. That whole "I was right there with you" speech in Season 7 carries a lot of emotional weight in my head.

Writing these characters is a great exercise.

that chocolate, honeyed voice
What a lovely description.

Shades of "Every night I save you". Very clever and beautifully drawn.

LJ just ate my comment. I've heard of that happening, but I've never seen it before. Sorry if this appears twice, as a result.

What a beautiful description.

This conjures shades of "Every night I save you" Very clever and beautifully drawn.

Very clever and beautifully drawn. Thank you. You're right, this does feel similar to Spike's "Every night I save you" speech. It's probably stuck in Buffy's head on repeat.

LJ's been lagging in the postings lately. I put something up and it takes a while to appear.
